This all stemmed from the fact that my local put "But Seriously" on the jukebox and Rafe's evangelical girlfriend is a big fan.

She is? I had absolutely no idea. I think it's high time I strenuously made a few things crystal clear to her Holiness.

Supposedly Linkous killed himself after he received a text message...
A text message about what?  The Knoxville PD confirmed that he shot himself in the heart in an alley by his friend's house, but why?  Just so messed up... reminds me of the Elliott Smith tragedy...

No idea.  His friends asked him what it said/who it was from, but he said he didn't want to talk about it.  He went upstairs for a while, came back down, and then went in the alley.

What could that have said that made him so upset?

It could easily have been nothing, man.  The guy was just seriously unhappy.  I think he probably suffered from clinical depression along with some drug issues and he genuinely had a pretty grim upbringing and life.

"It's a great album for rolling down the windows in the summer" tells me nothing about the album you're reviewing.
Something like "imagine Manic Street Preachers, The Doors, and My Morning Jacket had a baby" tells me what to expect. You know, is it electronic? Guitar driven? Shoegaze? Norwegian Death Polka?
The mere fact that it's warm enough to roll down the windows after being cooped up all winter makes Barry Manilow sound better. (Well, almost.)
Plus I don't drive with my windows down. The only time I come close is when I drop the whole top on the convertible. Then I have a hard time hearing the speakers any way.
I'm an air-conditioning person. Plus, I like to hear the nuances in the music.

I'm listening to woxy vintage this afternoon. They just went from a station ID by a guy with a British accent - who could that be? Wink - into Peek-A-Boo. I laughed hysterically!

I thought I specifically had it written into my contract that would never, ever happen. Sorry folks, WOXY may now have to go the wall as I sue the station for every last cent that they own.

RIP Alex Chilton.

I didn't know he was even alive, but he isn't anymore. Too bad.

I never listened to Big Star much, but I really enjoyed the Replacements and I know he had a big influence on them.

Yes,that was very sad news. Certainly a favourite of mine. A friend pointed out the other day that it was sad he didn't end up passing away in Memphis. that would have been right and fitting.

About 15 minutes ago, I blew up my other speaker in the car. I was listening to "Mousetrap" by Ride at the time. Those shoegazers certainly didn't mind letting it go in the studio. What a classic album their second one is.

Loz, Gardener, you cunts owe me a new speaker.
