OK...

On Saturday, November 17 from 10am -6pm I will take on my Torturethon 2007 challenge of SouljaBoy's "Crank That" for an 8-hour listening marathon.

I've picked the day in part so that one of my co-workers will be available to teach me the dance. That should be good for a few posts!

Am I that out of it that I have no idea who this is, what this song sounds like, or that there is a dance involved?  Am I lucky/unlucky here?

I'm with Butter. More info please.

Although the name keeps reminding me of Girl Talk's "Bounce That."

I am with Butter and Dan.

I've no clue who this is, what the song is like, nor that there is a dance associated with it. Although I am not surprised at my own lack of knowledge, I would have thought better of Butter and Dan, bastions of all things pop culture that they are.

No wait. That would be Hell Toupee.

My bad.

I put her up to it and she bit. SUCKA!

$2 an hour from me. That's all I can afford for the Tthon right now. Trust me, though, it'll be money well spent.

If you somehow were able to learn and incorporate the dance...

Yeah, check out the video. And I am a total sucker. On the positive side, there is no chance that I will ever hear this song after I complete the toturethon!

I teach in a museum- lots of school groups! And one of our programs has a (folk) dance component. With several of the groups when I've told them that we are going to dance they immediately want to know if we're "gonna dance soulja boy". I, too, was clueless.

I've seen the dance, and I think I have enough coordination to learn it. What I might not have enough coordination to do is figure out how to document and post my humiliation!

Hmm... maybe the pleasure of seeing pics could be an additional fee? (Maybe someone could pledge $1 a picture for the whole board to enjoy them)

That's a horrible, horrible song. The kids at Ethan's school love it. Kids have horrible taste.

Thankfully, Ethan and Alex aren't allowed to listen to the trash.

Comcast has these free "on-demand" shows you can get from various channels, including MTV.  So I'm always going to check out what's on MTV because you know, would it kill them to put up a free 3 minute video?  Apparently it would.

What they do have instead are these odd three minute dance lessons.  And supposedly this month, it's going to be Soulja Boy.  Is it wrong that I'm actually looking forward to this?  Is it even more wrong that a 36 year-old man knows how to "Pop, Lock, and Drop It?"

If you don't have to? Yes. Totally wrong.

I know about 20 of these damn dances now (Soulja Boy and Pop, Lock and Drop It among them). Seems to be the only thing to get people dancing at weddings, bar mitzvahs, corporate events, etc. I need to start DJing clubs where they dance to ANYTHING.
