I saw the Tim Burton exhibit at the MoMA today and for anyone who's going to be in NYC between now and Mar 26, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it. Absolutely stunning. SO. MUCH. MATERIAL. Just couldn't believe how artistic and creative he is... the volume of drawings and artistry is astounding.  If you do go, I suggest you go on a non-weekend day or early in the morning or something b/c it was absurdly crowded. Also - watch as many of his films as you can b/c it'll make the exhibits that much cooler. So amazing...
That sounds amazing! I'd love to see that.

So if you take a broader look at the Star Wars saga, it's really about Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and his rise to prominency and then fulfilling the prophecy that he would be the one to bring balance to the force. He does that eventually, by destroying the Emperor himself.

Except that this isn't balance. This leaves, essentially, one Jedi left: Luke. HOW IS THAT BALANCE? That's not balance. That's completely one-sided. Yes, he's "good" but balance would be one light side of the force, one dark side of the force. There's no balance in that at ALL.

George Lucas, we have a problem with your 'prophecy.'

That was hilarious. I found about 5 holes in that theory, but it's very well conceived. I love it.

I love it and I'm sticking to it, holes and all.  It makes a hell of a lot more sense than how the series is popularly perceived.

A recent article in Esquire Magazine (rather lengthy) about Roger Ebert...sad, but as Ebert himself writes "There is no need to pity me, look how happy I am", so I will not.  We should all be so lucky as to enjoy doing something with our lives as he enjoyed movies and writing.

OK, despite all the negativity I have dropped on "Avatar" since its release (seems dumb, etc) I think we may both go and see it today before it disappears entirely from the 3D cinema. People have kept telling us "You HAVE to see it, you HAVE to see it". I hate the idea of putting more $$$ James Cameron's way (because I think he's a hack twat) but sometimes you just have to succumb to peer pressure...

I agree that you need to see it in the theatre. My co-worker and I were just discussing that. There's no way to get the same experience at home (for now).

It's soooooooo pretttttttty!!!!!!

You realize, though, that it's a pretty easy film to trash since the plot is mediocre and the characters are rather simple. And if CR hates the film already, he's just going to come out of it hating it more. The prettiness is amazing, but it's not going to make him suddenly reverse course.

I sort of think it's a bad idea for him to see it.

The only 3-D movie I have to see in the next few months is Clash of Titans, but that's mostly out of curiosity. Although "how to train your dragon" looks pretty cool too. Still haven't seen avatar, probably won't get a chance to before it leaves theatres--I'm not sad or happy about that, simply meh.

He won't die or anything. Plus, he's used to being miserable and disappointed at the cinema. So, go for it!
