According to moviefone.com, BETTER OFF DEAD is 25 years old. Wow.

Great stuff. Never would have thought/known that the movie was based on someone's real life experience.

I just got irrationally excited over the possibility of Johnny Depp playing Barnabas in the Tim Burton film version of the show Dark Shadows.

I really think that there HAS TO BE a way to get an actress like Helena Bonham Carter into the film if you do that.

But who would do the soundtrack?

I do think Johnny Depp is a kickass Barnabas.  I'm much less excited about Tim Burton, but you can't have one without the other it seems.

I agree, supposedly he's a huge fan of the show so maybe he won't make it all super trippy? If he keeps his influence to sticking with the general dark feel of the original, then it might not be a total bust having Burton involved--but if he goes into his super trippy mode then the movie will suck.

As for a soundtrack, I don't know, it seems like it should be darker and more ethereal. Not sure who'd be a good fit for it though.

Kind of like he did with Batman? Not over the top but dark with a hint of cartoony stuff?

The soundtrack...hmmm. I'd be down with throwing a curveball and going with someone dark and elegant; like Portishead or Massive Attack. But, if you could convince Peter Murphy to take on the task he might be up to it.
