I've become despondent with the England national side over the last few years, and in particular the remaining members of the "golden generation". You know, poisonous bastards like Lampard, Terry and Cole. I'm rarely moved to emotion over anything in the world of footy gossip, but I'm absolutely livid that Terry is still captain of the national side, particularly in light of his recent run in with Anton Ferdinand. I don't want an openly racist bastard to play for my country in the Euro's, let alone captain the side. The FA and Capello are fucking weak, letting this one go.
Great! They sacked the cunt this morning. Only good thing the FA have done in the last 25 years.

Remains disgusting that he's still eligible to be chosen and/or play in the shirt though

That was my first thought. So he's not captain... he's still going to be on the pitch.

Capello out as manager of England.
Stuart Pearce is interim manager, but rumor is ol' Saggy Face himself is front-runner for the next permanent managerial position.
Thoughts?

Harry Redknapp, Rube of the Year
I actually enjoyed the article. I'm still pretty sure he's a twat, though.

Thieving, cheating, lying, lucky cnut.
The fact that he is so many people's front runner for the England job says everything you need to know about the piss poor state of the English national set-up, and the mentality of the public.
The media want him in the job because they have so much on him they can sell millions more newspapers on the back of scandal. And he'll bring scandal. This latest court case is but the tip of an iceberg of rumours that have been kicking around for almost two decades about the bloke. How he likes 'brown paper envelopes' and a deal dodgier than dodge.
It's not as if his record is anything to shout about. Yes, he's done alright at Spurs, but aside from that he's 'stolen' one FA Cup Final, did fuck all at West Ham (except take them close to administration), fucked over Portsmouth twice, fucked over Southampton (Secret Agent 'Arry) and really achieved nothing of note other than be pally with his chums in Fleet Street and adopt a 'rent a quote' cheeky boy persona.
He's proved time and time again he's only in it for the money. The England job won't allow him to wheel and deal, ergo he will be absofuckinglutely crap at it.
The timing of everything - HR getting away with the tax fraud and Capello leaving - is all too fucking convenient for my liking, but there you have it.
Shame Martin O'Neill took the Sunderland job - he would have been the best fit IMHO, Irish or not, as at least he knew many of the players he would be toying with.
The best thing about HR getting the job is that he will be found out quickly and probably castigated by everyone before/during the Euros. What's the incentive for him to do a good job when he'll probably get a big pay-off and the freedom to then go out and screw over another club who are unaware he's not really everything he's cracked up to be? He'll say he's full of pride to be managing England, but instead he'll just be full of shit. Like he's always been.
I hated it when he was manager of SFC. One of the sorriest periods in our history IFAIAC. The worst manager we ever had aside from Ian Branfoot. Oh, wait, there was Poortvliet... no I think even he was better than 'Arry.

Whoever gets the job, I hope they don't pick Terry ever again.

They've been dismal of late. Those high hopes of early to mid-December seem a lifetime ago. Still, I'd love a chance to sit half frozen at Priestfield.

I'll tell you what, with only a few thousand fans turning up right now, it's a good time to get your voice heard if you want to wind up a Linesman
Tonight was brilliant - As I was travelling home from work, Hannover 96 defeated the Mighty Club Brugge to reach the last 16 of the Europa League, in Bruges. Standard effing Liege, who beat us in the group rounds are next - there's a good chance i'll get to see the home match (the 2nd leg) in mid-March, I've been saving like a fucking bastard to scrape together an air fare, and I was hoping to see the league game against Cologne that weekend. Looks like me and the boys might get the chance to see us in an historical match (for the club and the fans - we really arent very good) instead. Absolutely elated right now.
A day in the sun, metaphorically! Brilliant stuff

Mighty Club Brugge? You gotta be joking, right? They've been pathethic all season. Couldn't score a SINGLE goal in 2 matches against Hannover 96. Pretty much like all Belgian clubs. Anderlecht? couldn't score a single goal in its 2 matches against AZ.
I'm predicting right now that Hannover will sail by Standard (who couldn't manage a single goal at home tonight against Mighty Wisla Krakau and only managed to advance on its sole away goal).
So yea, if you combine all 3 Belgian teams, they managed a grand total of ONE goal in six matches. ONE GOAL. Just pathetic.

No, I wasn't joking. Bruges are a "mighty" team for Hannover to have faced. The history at Club Brugge is riddled with domestic success, they played a European Cup final (if my memory serves), are second in the Jupiler league and Lorenzo Staelens used to play for them, who's a great bloke.
Hannover have never gone this far in a European competition before. Highest ever league position is fourth. We're shit. It's a nice time to be a fan right now. My previous post wasn't a conversation point, merely a statement from a happy guy.
