1. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (3/5)
2. Zack and Miri Make a Porno (3/5)
3. Role Models (3/5)
4. Hotel For Dogs (3/5)
Kenna loves anything that has animals in it, so she's been dying to see this. It's not high art, and you know exactly how it's gonna end about ten minutes in, but it was still pretty fun, funnier than I expected, and all the kids in the theater loved it, Kenna included of course. Kinda nice to see Lisa Kudrow again, too. Turn off your brain and enjoy it for the funny animals doing funny animal stuff.

1. Religulous (I'm not all that religious, and this movie kept pissing me off. Bill Maher's snark and condescension doesn't work well here.)
2. The Wrestler (Mother of God, even if you don't like professional wrestling, I think most people will dig this movie. Perfect ending.)
3. Diner
4. Revolutionary Road (I suggest seeing this with your significant other for loads of fun on the car ride home! :/ )

What a great flick. You really get a sense, through Clint Eastwood's character Walt, of how some people aren't so much racist as ignorant and set in their ways. In this case, all it took was someone to see past that to get at the true heart of what appears to be a pretty bitter old soul. I won't give away too much, but I'll say that despite his flaws, it's hard not to root for Walt.
6. Religulous (3.5/5)
So, there's not much in here I didn't already know, and Bill Maher's views echo my own, but I felt a touch uncomfortable watching this movie. Maher is very dismissive and smug, whereas I'd have liked to see him present the facts as he researched them and allow debate. Instead, he comes across as very arrogant and all-knowing. Again, I agree with much of what he had to say, just not in the way it was presented. I thought I was watching a Michael Moore movie. Still worth a rental just the same.

Not horrible, but very disappointing, should have been better.

Sad I am just now catching up on a bunch of these movies. Maybe tries too hard to be quirky, but it makes up for it with a top notch cast all around.

Them blowing apart Steve Coogan was not good enough for you?
Talking about going "full retard"?
Tom Cruise wearing Popeye arms for God's sake?
If you didn't laugh once, you just weren't in the right mood to see this movie.

Yeah, I'm not sure how to respond to that. I laughed my balls off throughout the movie as did everyone else in the theatre.

A crazy documentary about a sociopathic man and his oblivious mistress. Maybe spends a bit too much time on the front end and not enough on the back end of the story... but the middle 45 minutes is crazy shit.

YAY! I'm glad you saw this so that you could unintentionally remind me that I need to put this in my movie queue. Wanted to see this SOOOOO BADLY when it was in the theatres.

RE: Tropic Thunder
I, too, laughed pretty much the entire way through. Twice. I mean, they had me during Toby Maguire and RDJ's fake trailer, so I knew what I was in for. My immediate reaction to CR's comments was, "Say what? Seriously? Not once?" But then I'm reminded that I believe I did mention in my little mini-review that this movie isn't for everyone. People still give me shit that I think I laughed maybe twice during Clerks and find it to be vastly overrated, so different strokes and all that.

This was actually my second try at watching TT. I went to see it at the cinema and walked out after about 15 minutes. This was due to a) a loud a/c noise disrupting the theatre I was in and b) Steve Coogan. (B moreso than A if truth be told)
MK was with me for the last 70 minutes of the library DVD re-try and she will concur that I didn't even raise a titter. At one point even she looked up from her book and asked me if "this was supposed to be a comedy?"
I didn't laugh at Coogan being blown up, merely wished I was watching a reality show. I think - and have always thought - the guy is a talentless twat.
Butter could be right I suppose, but wrong mood twice?
I feel sorry that Kwyj lost his balls for this movie. RIP Kwyj's balls.
