Ya'll know they are remaking the Karate Kid with Will Smith's son? That's the one that hurts me the most.

That is the most egregious or however you spell it.

The best thing that anyone ever said to me about the movie Industry is this:

No one in Holywood sets out to make a bad movie.  Rather, no one in Hollywood sets out to make a movie without a specific audience in mind first.

I started a similar thread on WOXY just to talk about TAKING OF THE PELHAM 123. My mind is still BLOWN that this movie has been remade and will be at a theatre near you VERY soon. I love Denzel, but he ain't no Matthau.

If Denzel were to just once utter "I'm not Rappaport", would you reconsider?  Tongue

Totally agree, plus the NYC of Pelham's era was a unique character in and of itself.  I love modern NYC, but it just doesn't have the same grittiness as Pelham/French Connection/Seven-Ups.

Exactly. The Disneyfication of NYC doesn't lend itself to the same kind of crime drama. But, I'll probably STILL see it. Smiley Just for comparison's sake.

Plus, even though I'm not excited about the casting of Washington AND Travolta, I'm totally down with seeing Jason Butler Harner and Gbenga Akinnagbe in the film. In ANY film, really.

My thought processes as I read that:

1) Hah. Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes. The two actors that I always mistake for each other. I guess if they are to be brotherly gods it should work.
2) Ohh yeah, that's right. They were in "Schindler's List" together. Forgot about that.
3) Alexa Davalos just sounds like a hot name.
4) Let's look her up... yup, totally hot. Born in 1982...nice.
5) Wait...she's in one of my favorite movies ("Chronicles of Riddick") and I didn't even get that? Gaaah! I'm slipping.  ME = EPIC FAIL.

"State of Play"

Original 2003 BBC 6-part mini-series with John Simm, Philip Glenister, James McAvoy, Bill Nighy, Marc Warren etc = AWESOME, gripping powerful drama

2009 Hollywood remake w/Russell "Call me Mr Talentless" Crowe, Ben AFLAC!, Rachel McAdams etc, rejigged and set in DC = Probable Pants

More importantly, She was Gwen Raiden in Angel.  And she was on that show that got canceled where each episode moved forward a year...

WHEW!   I just had a shock seeing that Liam Neeson was cast as Zeus....after just reading last week Sean Bean was.  C'mon Sean Bean was BORN to play Zeus!   Wink  Thankfully it's a different movie.  Ok, I'm going back to being excited about greek gods again.
