Sublime Reunites

I don't mean to step on anyone's musical toes, but...

didn't Sublime already help transform a generation of kinda bratty kids into out-and-out assholes?  Do we really need more help in that area?

"40 oz to Freedom" is one of my all-time FAVORITE albums. I didn't learn about it until after Bradley had already died. I only knew their top 40 stuff when he was alive - which was CRAP. However, 40 oz still blows my mind. Any way, I never got to see them live and I've often thought of checking out the cover band, Badfish. But, I don't think I could ever go see "Sublime" in this newest incarnation.

I like 40oz more than the self-titled now. Partly because every god damn "alternative" station plays "Santeria" or "What I Got" 8 jillion times a day STILL and I'm just burnt on them. It's a shame because What I Got is a great song.

I'd probably put Sublime somewhere in my Top 10 bands of all time, maybe even top 5....I'd have to think about it a while. I too didn't know about them until after he passed and that guy just had the most beautiful voice. On top of that he was an excellent songwriter and a pretty good guitar player too. I miss that band so much and I never saw them either.

I've been thinking about this all day, and I'd have to really think long and hard about going to see this version of Sublime. I just feel like it's disrespectful to Brad. Maybe not as bad as INXS (an effing reality show to get a new singer??) but along the lines of Queen and Blind Melon.

But on the flip side, AC/DC had a new singer within months after Bon Scott died and there hasn't been a lot of griping about it. Not sure if there was back then or not. I was 4. But Scott's mother insisted the band go get a new singer.

I think they should just call themselves something different than Sublime, that's all. Brad had Sublime tattooed across his back....I think he loved that band a lot.

40 oz is good. Robbin' the Hood is better. IMO All the Raleigh Sakers dub and Cisco Kid, too. Two versions of Pool Shark. Half the shit on 40 oz to Freedom is covers of Bad Religion, The Toys, Descendents...Good covers, but come on.
