Did you really just recycle a joke from
The Love Guru
? I'm very disappointed in you.

Well, since I've never seen
The Love Guru
, I'm going to go with no. At least not intentionally.

Thanks Hell Toupee for giving us the heads up to that sale a few weeks ago! We have been playing this game like crazy the past couple of days. I really love it! Right now I'm channeling my inner Ringo.

I'm disappointed with the game to a degree. Not song selection wise of course, it's The Beatles, there aren't a lot of bad songs, and it's not like
Rain
or
You Know My Name, Look up the Number
are included or anything. But I think the game play is kind of poorly executed. With the guitar hero games I've played, Medium difficulty has been challenging for me, I can do Easy pretty much no sweat. With this Medium was way too easy, each song may have 10 notes that are a challenge but by and large, it's super easy. But... the problem is that Hard is too freakin' Hard, I can't do it at all. If I have to use that fifth fret button I'm done, that adds a whole other level of coordination that I just don't have. So there's basically no challenge it's either no challenge or impossibly hard. For me anyway.
I played through the whole thing in no time flat, and now I'm doing the chapter challenges and when I'm done with that it's a coaster. Pretty sucky.

I think we are going to download some of the other albums available for the game. We are buying Lego RB at Target this week for $29 for the kids. They simply cannot do anything besides sing on the Beatles RB and it's pretty awful to hear them butcher the Beatles like that. The Lego RB is even easier with a "super easy" mode so I think the kids will be able to do that. And it has some of their favorite songs on it. We also have the first RB game. It's a good bit harder than the Beatles game. I am really struggling with that game.

I think they made The Beatles game deliberately easier due to the older-skewing target audience who might have a slightly more difficult time with things.
I think it's kind of funny to see the kids get into the game so much. They are trying hard to sing the correct lyrics, but have little sense of pitch. Lego Rock Band has "We Will Rock You" on it, they could probably literally just play that song for 2 weeks and be happy with it.

I can see why they'd do that, I just don't understand the 180 degree difference between Medium and Hard.

That was pretty much the same problem I had with Guitar Hero. I couldn't do anything when they threw in the 5th note. Although to be fair, I didn't try all that hard... I gave it about 3 songs and said "fuck it".

A couple of things...
* Rock Band 2 (software only) is $20 @ Best Buy this week.
* Harmonix pretty much said that the difficulty in Beatles RB was going to be easier in the lower modes when it was being made. If you're trying to go up a level to hard, start out on bass. Bass is almost always easier than going with guitar from the onset, with the exception of a few songs.
* Lego Rock Band is ok, and even though I finished it a little while ago, I keep it around for Let's Dance and Ghostbusters. If you want Queen tracks, there are 10 available out on the Rock Band store through XBox Live/Wii Store/PS Store, but I suggest picking up RB2's software for that first.

Picked up Rock BAnd 2 and Lego Rock Band last night.
The kids and I are rocking out on Lego Rock Band! It is a blast and it's perfect for kids. They know a lot of the songs and with the super easy level option they can actually "play" the instruments. I just got finished belting out "Word Up" by Cameo.

Thanks for the heads up on this, I picked up a copy last night. Probably won't delve into it right away but at that price there was no reason to wait to grab it.
