Not sure If this is wise, but I'm going to give it a try. I'm going for 50 different brands, but will include numbers consumed.

1. Frank's Red Hot (1 large, 5 small bottles down)
2. Pickapeppa Hot Sauce (1 small bottle)
3. Cholula Hot Sauce (5 bottles)
4. Crystal (1 small bottle)
5. Frank's Xtra Hot (1 small bottle)
6. Tabasco Habanero (1 small bottle)
7. Tabasco Regular (2 small bottles)
8. Sriracha Chilli Sauce (1 bottle)
9. Encona Creole Hot Pepper Sauce (1 bottle)
10. Dave's Gourmet Insanity Sauce (1 bottle)
11. Mountain Man Roast Corn, Garlic and Chipotle (1 small bottle)
12. Encona Cajun Hot Pepper Sauce (1 bottle)
13. Vizcana Habanero XX Hot (1 bottle)
14. Dunn's River Jamaican Hot Sauce (1 bottle)
15. ABC Indonesian Extra Pedas Hot Chilli (1 bottle)
16. Valentina (I'll be finished in a couple of days, at this rate. Ace on corn.)

I'll add to this periodically, with luck.

Rafe, next time you're in the area, make sure somebody takes you to Jungle Jim's.  They have a crazy hot sauce area

Good call! I've been there a few times, and the array of sauces is staggeringly impressive.

Are there any other common, generic, everyday hot sauces I should try and find? Texas Pete (I think that's the name) springs to mind, just wondering if there are any others that'd be relatively easy to import from the States.

Ass-In-The-Tub. If anything, for the hilarious cartoon character on the bottle label.
I'd say Pace, but that's a salsa and not a sauce per se.

When I was in Naperville, I ate regularly at a resturant where you could complete all 50 in one sitting...

That wall is all hot sauce.

Yikes.

You pick:

a) virgin birth
b) effort to get Christian drunk so she can laugh at him while he slurs encouragement during the Villa match.
c) arm stump

Valentina Mexican Hot Sauce. This is the hot sauce that is EVERYWHERE in Mexico. At the movie theatres for putting on your popcorn and in most street carts that sell potato chips. They open the bag, dump in the Valentina and squeeze in some lime juice. SO FREAKIN GOOD.

Ahhh, good to know. I'll try that one, definitely.

I mean, Bloody Mary's are the devil! A pestilence on the twin evils of alcohol and tomatoes.

Sounds good - I'll try and snag a bottle!

I'll look out for the Valentina online too, lando. I like the "use like ketchup" sauces a lot.

Despite the name, it's from North Carolina.

Another local favorite is Cackalacky Spice Sauce.

Several months ago... Wal-Mart had the small bottles of Tabasco on "temporary rollback" for $0.88 (I think they are normally $1-something) and I randomly made a mental note of that, but didn't buy any because I had a big bottle (thank you warehouse club giant-sized bottles!) at home.

I buy all of our meat, produce and "BOGO" (buy one, get one) items at Publix, but shop for the food staples, canned goods, cleaning supplies and pharmacy/hygiene stuff at Wal-Mart.  I <3 the coupons because they are the free monies.

On my way in to Publix the next day, I checked out the coupon giveaway spot... there were like 10 packs of Tabasco coupons.  $0.75 off any size bottle... mental note appeared... $0.13 a bottle???  SCORE!!  I took an entire pack of the coupons.  There were 50 coupons in that pack.

I went to Wal-Mart that afternoon and bought 50 small bottles of Tabasco for $6.50 +tax.  I use about 1 a week, on average, and I am set for the next year.  Wisely, I did check to see if they'd go bad on me.  They don't expire until sometime in 2012... W00T!

Tabasco is my all purpose seasoning.  I use a wide variety of hot sauces for other occasions, but Tabasco is my "go to" condiment for almost anything.  I put it on salads, potatoes, meats, veggies, whatever.
