I watched that show for awhile (off and on for a season or so I guess), but I seriously have no idea why. I HATED it. My sisters must have liked it or something I guess.

Not directly. Although I was living in Columbus when the remnants of Hurricane Ike blew through and we had a major windstorm, lots of damage, several people killed, and power out for days in places.

Only the byproducts--Hurricane Ike's winds hitting Ohio and losing power for 3+ days. And even though the weather was fantastic, a hurricane threatening Florida back in 2001 closed Everglades national park due to evacuations.

Not sure. I think Isabel was still a cat. 2 hurricane when it swept through VA and Richmond was within the hurricane zone.

I don't know for sure, either, but I was always under the impression that Isabel was "just" a tropical storm by the time it hit DC. So that counts for me, I suppose? I've told the story around here before about seeing BRMC while Isabel was raging outside, so that was very surreal. And we lost power for 4 days, so that sucked.
I asked b/c I was pretty sure NYC was gonna get soaked by Earl, but apparently not. I don't know if we even got legitimate rain.
I also remember in Sept 1996 the remnants of a hurricane blew north past Cleveland. There wasn't much of any wind, but there was a steady and impressive rain. We were supposed to have a cross country meet that day, but the venue cancelled b/c they didn't want us tearing up their grass. Instead we were driven down to the local linear park system and told, "Start running. We'll wait a while and then start driving and pick you up as we pass you." Unconventional training run for sure, but even more surreal because of the steady driving rain. In C-town we didn't get rain like that.
It cemented my love of running in the rain, which I carried with me for the rest of my running career.
Thanks Mr. I-Can't-Remember-Your-Name Hurricane.

I just missed a cat 2 in Anna Maria Island one year when I went down there to meet up with a couple friends who were already staying there. The hotel is right on the beach. They moved my friends from the beachfront room to the suite way back in the hotel. All the pool furniture was in the pool (they put it there when hurricanes come), there was sand everywhere, and there were crews fixing windows/screens all up and down the coast.
But I did directly suffer the effects of Hurricane Lily ('02?) right here at home in River City.
I was getting ready to take off for a disc golf tournament in West Virginia. I had the bags packed and was waiting for the rain (hurricane remnants) to stop when I got a knock on the apartment door. My neighbor was in hysterics and wanted to show me something. I followed her down the steps and looked outside, and an old dead tree across the fence line had been blown over. It fell across the front of my 69 Malibu convertible and smashed the roof in on my Camry parked next to it. I couldn't move the convertible and the Camry was pinned. Both cars were totaled, and I got a nasty case of head-to-toe poison ivy when I climbed into the Camry through the back door to get my stuff out.
Needless to say I missed the tournament. Both cars were total losses but the body man I took the convertible to talked the insurance company into fixing it.

Only Ike and losing power for 36 hours, getting it back for an hour then losing it again for another 48 hours.
We drove around town a bit looking for food (we went to Sam's and did our shopping in the dark), we had to take a different route because the usual one was blocked by a huge tree. The streets were green from all the leaves that had blown off the trees. It was really cool and really scary at the same time (the kiddo was not a fan in the beginning). We found one corner that had power and managed to get cash out of the atm then went across the street and waited for 3 hours for our order from snappy's (we had a non-functioning grill at home, so there was no way to cook anything). It was wall to wall people and they stopped selling pizzas b/c they ran out of cheese and dough.
The kiddo is still afraid of power outages, she hated sleeping in her room during the blackout. The only thing she loved about it was getting a pop tart for breakfast in the mornings.

Let's see:
1998- Hurricane Georges hit the Mississppi coast, and we got afteraffects in Oxford, MS
1999- Hurricane Floyd and Hurricane Dennis- mostly rain events, but Floyd scared me- I was housesitting, and even though I lived four hours from the coast, we were prepared- schools and offices closed, and it came through at night.
2003- Hurricane Isobel made landfall an hour and a half from where I lived. It was my first coastal hurricane experience, so I left my apartment to stay at a friend's and watch the weather channel all day. Was mostly a non-event.
2005- Hurricane Ophelia- work was canceled, and we had so much water that our pumps in the basement couldn't keep up. I holed up in the house, and tried to not look out the windows at the live oaks bending over in the wind
Then there was Tropical Storm Tammy in October. I was going to a wedding in New York that weekend, and basically flew at the edge of the hurricane the whole day. Tammy left 8 or so inches of rain in a 24 hour period. Again, the pumps weren't having fun, and there was still debris from Ophelia that had not been picked up. the Monday before Thanksgiving, an unnamed tropical depression rained for 24 hours over us, with 17 or so inches of rain. This time it wasn't the basement that flooded, but the roof failed, and we had major leaks in an exhibit space- as in we had to rip out permanent installations to keep them from becoming mold infested. It took 5 years to recover from that one.
Earl didn't do anything here- we didn't even get any rain!

Growing up, there were remnants of hurricanes that made it to Middle Tennessee, but no names that I remember.
1996 - Hurricane Fran makes landfall in Wilmington, NC, and travels up I-40 to Raleigh, still at hurricane strength. It finally dropped to tropical storm strength as it left Wake County. I stayed in the inner hallway of my apartment that night, fearful that the pines behind my apartment would crash onto my roof. While that didn't come to pass, there was a water leak at the other end of the living area. The Governor told state employees to stay home for a week to help with cleanup efforts. Trees were downed all over the city, so for a year many homes sported blue tarps on their roofs.
1998 - The outer bands of rain from Hurricane Bonnie (which made landfall in Wilmington) reach Raleigh. The remnants of Hurricane Earl (which came ashore in the panhandle of Florida) cross over Raleigh.
1999 - Hurricane Dennis, which had dropped to tropical depression status, dumped almost 5" of rain in Raleigh. Two weeks later, the outer rain bands of Hurricane Floyd brought almost 4" of rain to Raleigh.
2002 - The remnants of Hurricane Kyle bring almost 6" of rain over two days.
2003 - The impact of Hurricane Isabel, while not directly passing over Raleigh, was substantial enough for the county to be declared a disaster area, qualifying for FEMA assistance.
2006 - Tropical Storm Alberto causes a record rainfall in Raleigh - 7.16", breaking the record from Hurricane Fran, even though it made landfall on the Florida panhandle.
2009 - My family went to Topsail Island the week between Hurricane Bill and Tropical Storm Danny, so the ocean was quite rough when we arrived and as we left.
All I saw from Earl were some clouds.

Forgot about these, they can be added to my tally!
