Mr Altman... I know this was your last film and everything but its an utter turd of the stinkiest order. 25 minutes and fuck-all happened. I sure wasn't prepared to smell the rest.

I'm guessing the answer to that question is "no".

We love listening the PHC on the radio when we go camping.  There's something so soothing about Garrison Kellior's voice.  I actually don't want to see the movie  and opted out of seeing the recent live "event" because I don't want to overwrite my imagination.

When I was in college and working at the radio station, I had to run that show.  Basically, all it involved was me flipping a switch at noon and letting the stream come through.  However, unlike other "out of studio" broadcasts which used similar timing when it came to breaks, PHC did not.  Meaning, I had to listen to that horrible show to make sure I didn't miss the break.

If I was stuck in an elevator with Phil Collins and Garrison Keillor, I'm not sure whose teeth I'd kick first.

Well, I'd kick Collins first, obviously, but maybe at 85% so I still had some in the tank for Keillor.

And, of course, my wife loves PHC.

I despise PHC, his droning voice makes me want to run my car off a bridge.  The movie manages to take his dumb radio show and make it worse.  All that shit with the ghost and whatever?  WTF was that all about?  Very bad.

Well, color (colour?) me surprised. Then why were you surprised the movie didn't really go anywhere? The movie seemed to me just like going to see his show live except you got to see backstage as well. I'm not offended by your reaction to the film (I didn't care for it myself), I'm just curious what you thought the film would be like.

I was prepared for an Altman-esque ensemble piece - which, admittedly it did seem to be - but unprepared for a storyline that was non-existent. (Radio probably works better because it leaves everything to the imagination?) Also, everyone seemed to be hamming it up to a ludicrous degree, even Streep who I would have thought better of.

Just pants. Utter pants.

1. I'M NOT THERE - DVD - 01/16/10
2. PROM NIGHT - Encore - 01/30/10 - I thought I'd give this a shot since Idris Elba was involved. HORRIBLE. Not even remotely scary or clever or fun. PANTS! So, I deleted it after 40 minutes.

1. Rushmore (Yes, yes, I know but it was like pulling teeth for me. My date was lucky I sat through to the 45 minute mark).

2. The punisher: war zone (it hasn't been put in the dvd player yet, but I can already tell it's one I'm going to run away from within 10 minutes or less).

Had it not had that ridiculous ghost bullshit in there it might not have been so bad, but seriously, wtf was that?  Made no sense.

I can just imagine your dad listening to that show, I'm sure he thinks it's hair-larious.

I like PHC. Sure it's kinda cheesy but I think it's funny enough. It's an odd blend of liberal humor and Americana packaged as an old time radio show. Somehow it works for me.
