Getting the ball rolling here...

1. Mumford and Sons - Sigh No More

Dig it quite a bit, kind of like The Avett Brothers meets The Frames.  Get's a little Dirge-y in spots, which is my only complaint.

2. One Eskimo - S/T

Eh, Kandi is a pretty decent song, which is why I grabbed it but other than that I don't care for it.

3. The Frames - Fitzcarraldo

Pretty bland for The Frames, it's no Burn the Maps, for sure.

4. Steve Burns + The Struggle - Deep Sea Recovery Efforts

Didn't care for this one at all.  Julie liked it because it was laid back, but to me, it was too laid back.  No stand outs like What I Do on Saturday or Mighty Little Man from the previous album.  I need to give it a little more play before I make a final ruling but so far, not so much.

Mumford and Sons is kind of like a flaming pile of feces meets a giant ball of suck.  I really wish 1965 Bob Dylan could come and beat the indie community over the head with an electric guitar.

I agree. they're a fucking dreadful band. I liked the single when it first came out, until I realised it was shit about 10 listens later.

I thought Mumford & Sons was one of the best "new bands" of late 2009. I haven't heard much from them since, and based on the 3 or 4 tracks I heard I thought they were pretty decent.

I feel like even the people who keep telling you how great Mumford and Sons are really don't believe it.  Not only do they believe it, but they actually *like* that they aren't very good.  That way they can get their foot in the door so that after you listen they can go "You ain't heard nothing!  If you like those guys wait until I play you The O'Donegal Family!  Or the time I saw McKilkennaergh  and the Morningcoats live at the Taint and Thistle!"

Don't worry - I like Mumford & Sons. I like Glee, too. I apparently have no indie cred whatsoever.

I have no indie cred to speak of but I think Mumford & Sons (and AOR in general) speaks to some mystical cut-off where some people get nostalgic hearing stuff like Mumford & Sons, not realizing that they are using a subpar sound to manifest the better days of adolescent rock. I think I was guilty of it through a different sub-sect of music years ago (not that I'm terribly old) before I remembered that it's easier to just admit my love of old pleasures rather than force myself to like something new just because it's shiny and being written up by every two-bit blogger hoping to be the new, kinder, gentler Lester Bangs.

I no longer attack people's musical tastes. I just hate that there's enough people who think moving units and making mindless entertainment is worth accolades and awards. I suppose I maintain a certain view that artistry, creativity, and originality should still account for something but clearly any entertainment endeavor in the past few decades has done its best to bury all that.

You guys don't take me that seriously, do you?

There are bands and shows and movies and books that I can't stand and I enjoy throwing hissy fits over them.  I will attack people's personal tastes but it's not like, for real.  I argue that Mumfor & Sons suck in the same spirit I'd claim that the Astros or strawberry ice cream.

1. Mumford and Sons - Sigh No More
2. One Eskimo - S/T
3. The Frames - Fitzcarraldo
4. Steve Burns + The Struggle - Deep Sea Recovery Efforts

5. Nada Surf - The Weight is a Gift

Good stuff, I've had this for a while but just listened to it finally.  I've got a few more of theirs that I'll be getting around to here shortly.

6. Metric - Fantasies

Late to the party on this one.  Pretty rockin' record, I've had it on rotation for a couple of days and have yet to skip any tracks, which is rare for me.

7. The Replacements - Pleased to Meet Me

Really late to the party with this.  Been a Westerberg fan since he was on the Singles soundtrack back in the day and have a lot of his solo stuff and one of Tommy's.  Sadly I've managed to not dip into the 'Mats stuff until now, a shame.  I will say though that not having years and years of love for this record behind me that it does sound a bit dated, at least production wise.  Still awesome though, obviously.

By the way, I never tire of when you talk about how much the Astros suck.

I would just like to say that I agree with my colleague from the great state of Virginia on Mumford and Sons.  They can take a long walk off a short pier.

Will you guys just post your damn CDs?  I get it, they suck.

Ninja! (pretend the Ninja is tired of hearing about it)

ETA: This was my 8,000th post.  Yipes.  Oddly I believe Jonathan still has more than me and he hasn't posted in like a year and half.
