I'm looking for a new job/really need to get out of my current one, and have spent about 12 years in government/non-profit positions. All of these positions have been related- museum and cultural resources- and I need to draft a skills-based resume as a result. I'm not getting looked at for my museum jobs, and I know that my "mad planning and logistics skillz" are transferrable into other situations.

Any suggestions on what makes a good skills-based resume? Do hiring managers look at them or toss them out immediately?

And, if you know of any good, non-entry level positions suitable for a nerd, anywhere in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and especially Tennessee, let me know!

Anybody feeling generous and would be willing to look over my resume and offer any kind of feedback would be greatly appreciated... just shoot me a PM.

I just handed in my resignation letter at my current job.  It's the first time I have ever left a job of my own accord, in my adult life.  It's really weird.  I thought I was going to enjoy it more, but now I just feel bad for those that are left behind.  It's kinda' like going to the pet store and finding a bin full of puppies with a sign on it that says, "Please take one...the rest will be euthanised tomorrow".  I feel bad for all those cute puppies I left behind, but have zero love for the pet store.

Anyway, I have two more weeks left at the puppy mill before I start a new and wonderfully promising job at Caresource. Smiley

Wow. Congrats Doug. I remember when you were so excited and the future was promising so it's quite disappointing to hear that this place turned out to be puppy murderers. But heyo new job! Nice!

Congrats on the new gig.  Hope it works out better than the (current) old gig.

Thanks folks.  I actually interviewed there 3 years ago when I got laid off and I didn't have enough experience.  I look at the last 3 years as training for Caresource.
