If he doesn't want to be seen as a tormented nutjob why is he contradicting himself every other day.  First he says he has health issues and he's an outsider and he's retiring.  Then he says he's not retiring but he'll never play the drums again.  Then he says he is retiring but it's not because he has health issues and he doesn't feel like an outsider.  WTF Phil Collins?
