Ah, but look at it like this. The whiners on that team will have no room to do so any more now that they've won it.
And they may once they realize what the loss of Pujols means to 'em.

I think Pujols is coming back to St. Louis.  I felt that way all season.  Now that they won the WS, the pressure will be a little higher to bring him back and for him to come back.  And with the big spending Red Sox and Yanks already set at 1B, he won't get the uber-contract he wants.  I could see the Nats throwing a huge contract at him and possibly enticing him away.  But I think as long as the Cards offer a figure that's somewhere in the ballpark of his other offers, he won't mind giving them a $20 million home team discount, a la Cliff Lee last year.

It would be cool if he came to Chicago because hey, Albert Pujols!  But I'm okay if he doesn't, because quite honestly the Cubs don't need to be throwing down $150 million for a guy already in the early stages of decline.  My heart says yes, my head says no.

eh, I take that back.  LaRussa retiring changes things considerably.  Pujols will NOT be a Cardinal next year... but I don't think he'll be a Cub either.
