I keep forgetting, but I should know who everyone roots for here, so this is the place to do it. Like, I know CR, rva, and I root for Southampton, C-Lando is a Liverpool fan, and Clemsonfan is obviously a Clemson fan etc., but it'd be nice if we all listed our associations.

For me -
English Soccer: Southampton, Tottenham comes in a distant 2nd.
Baseball: Cleveland Indians. The Mets and Reds are tied for a distant 2nd.
NFL Football: Cleveland Browns.
NBA Basketball: Cleveland Cavaliers.
Hockey: None. I should root for Columbus I guess, but it just hasn't happened.
College Basketball: Cincinnati Bearcats and Ohio State Buckeyes. If they are playing each other - which seems to be never - I guess I root for the Bearcats. If they are playing in the NCAA tourney, I root for Cleveland State, too, although they are a clear third.
College Football: Cincinnati Bearcats and Ohio State Buckeyes. If they play each other, I root for whoever has the better chance at winning the national championship. In those obscure games, I root for Ohio University and Miami Redhawks because family went there.
MLS Soccer: I still don't have a team here. I should root for the Crew, but they haven't taken hold with me. My fandom is still for sale to the highest bidder. I've been to a few RedBulls games, though, and if something else doesn't happen soon, I can see me gravitating toward them eventually.
Spanish Soccer: Barcelona, solely because of Messi. I feel like an a-hole saying that I root for them, but he's a legit reason.
German Soccer: I don't root for anyone, but if I saw Hannover 96 was playing I'd totally side with them because of Rafe.

My only anti-teams - the teams I specifically root against - are: NY Yankees, Duke basketball, Notre Dame football, Michigan football, Manchester United and Portsmouth in soccer, and ... I guess that's it.

Good one Dan. I'll go ahead and chip in

Belgian soccer: Lokeren, I grew up with this team in Belgium, and still follow them each week (thanks to the wonder that is the internet), and of course the Belgian national team (the Red Devils)
English soccer: Manchester United
Spanish soccer: Barcelona
NFL: Bengals, of course
Baseball: Reds, and pretty passionate at that
College basketball: Xavier all the way
College football: UC Bearcats (and I have a deep hate for the never-ending arrogant Buckeyes)
HS football: St. Xavier Bombers all the way! I am more passionate about HS football than either NFL or college football.... They just play for the pride of the school, period.

English Soccer: Peterborough United of the Championship.  Fulham in the Premier League.  They are sort of the new Southampton.  They never make Europe, but they never seem to get relegated.  Plus they always have an American or two to root for.

Baseball:  Reds

NFL: Bengals

College Basketball: Dayton Flyers.  Ohio State and Clemson a distant 2nd.

College Football: Ohio State and Clemson.

MLS Soccer:  I will watch a couple of Columbus Crew games a year.  I was pretty happy when they won the MLS a couple of years ago, but not really into MLS at all.

I agree with you on the Fulham part - I kind of like them, too. I don't root for them per se but I'm always happy when they are doing well, so long as it doesn't come at the expense of Tottenham or anyone else I prefer. Loving Clint Dempsey in the past few years especially.

Baseball: The Reds.  They're my primary focus and account for 75% of my sporting passion
Soccer: Aston Villa in the EPL, Gillingham in League 2 and A.F.C. Telford United in some God foresaken conference.  But since I dropped cable, I've not watch a single Villa match this season and really, outside of the tables, haven't followed the game at all.  And the US National team, natch.
College Basketball: XU and UC.  XU when they play each other.  I also have a soft spot for UNC because my grandma used to live in NC and would send me Tar Heel shirts and stuff for my b-day when I was a kid.  Plus, Jordan.
NBA: don't really care.  I was a Bulls fan during the glory days, but never really cared a lot.
NFL: The Bengals, I guess.

Football: Southampton (Born there, brought up there, followed the team since I was a nipper... via ALL the trials, tribulations and all-too-brief spells of elation and success)
International Football: England, Denmark, USA (my "home teams")
Baseball: Reds (Even though I despise the 'can't lose' franchise element of most US sports)

I regard almost every other sport with a massive "meh", especially American football, rugby, cricket, car racing, basketball (which to me is nothing but "bounce, bounce, net, bounce, bounce, net"), and all this US college rubbish. I've been to a few ice hockey games and the fights have been fun but the game less than thrilling (too much stopping and starting)

I hate Portsmouth football club. Oh and Harry Redknapp because he's a cunt.

Granted, you can also say that about soccer: dribble, dribble, pass, pass, dribble, dribble, corner kick, goal kick, dribble, dribble, pass, off-target shot, goal kick, dribble, devastating hamstring injury, miraculous recovery from devastating hamstring injury, throw in.

MLB: Boston Red Sox (far and away my favorite team in anything. Was hauled home from the hospital as a 4-day-old in a Sox T-shirt).

NFL: Indianapolis Colts.

NHL: Buffalo Sabres, Chicago Blackhawks

English Soccer: No one, though I just saw a game featuring New Castle United the other night and realized that I used to have one of their jerseys back in the 70s, so I'll probably root for them in the future.

College football: W. Virginia

College Basketball: Purdue, XU, Horizon League Schools

NBA: I was really pulling for the lockout.

x2!

College football: University of Tennessee, Miami U, anyone who isn't Virginia Tech
NFL: Colts, if I realize there is a game on.
Soccer: Wilmington Hammerheads b/c I live less than a mile from the stadium and the tickets are cheap
Baseball- nope
College basketball- Miami U, not the ACC, but I really can't say much against Duke (I know!) since the only non-Miami game I've been to was at Cameron.

Football:

My team are Hannover 96. I've been a supporter since 1992 from the time I lived in that fair city and my mates and I would religiously go to every home game. I love the club on so many different levels.

I also follow my local professional (you wouldn't think it to watch 'em) side, Gillingham FC as mentioned earlier by Fools. They're shit, but I like to go along a couple of times a season to make slightly lewd comments towards the Linesman/Ref/Opposition players and staff.

As a kid growing up, my side were Tottenham, who I still like to keep an eye on for old time's sake. That said, I've become disillusioned with the Premiership over the past few seasons, and the direction which top flight footy in England has travelled in. Don't get me wrong, the quality of play is incredible, but the bullshit associated with the big teams makes me feel a little uncomfortable.

As far as foreign sides go, I used to watch Tubize regularly when I lived in Belgium. Shit team, but it was nice just to get a chance to watch the odd competitive match and get drunk with a bunch of fat Wallonians after the final whistle.

National Football: Despite them being a bunch of poisonous bastards, I'm and England fan. Could be worse, I could have been born a Scot. I always like to see how Belgium are doing, too.

Other Sports:

I don't really support any other teams, but I follow the progress of the Reds in Baseball every year, simply because my mates are massive fans and it's always nice to see your friends happy when their team is doing well (however rarely). I also casually follow the Mets for some odd reason similar to the above.

Same can be said about the Bengals in Gridiron.

I can't say that I support any NFL, MLB, or NBA team with passion. I enjoy watching the Falcons, the Braves, the Reds, and the Hawks in person. But, it takes a lot for me to want to watch their games on TV. I'll listen to any baseball team on the radio.

College football = Notre Dame Fighting Irish and anyone playing against the Florida Gators

English Football = Liverpool FC

World Soccer = USA or Spain (I really fell in love with the Reds during the Benitez Rafalution)

NHL = hahahahaaha

Minor League Baseball Teams = anyone with a good name like the Savannah Sandgnats or Montgomery Biscuits

English Soccer: Peterborough United... hehehe for those not in the know... I got with Rafe a couple of years ago on picking some team that was decently good in the distant past, but hadn't been living up to their potential in the present.  I would learn a few cheap facts, a couple of really old names, a couple of random slogans to toss out there and I could fake being a fan of a sport that I have absolutely no interest in.  They could be "my team" and no one would really question it because this team wouldn't have any bandwagon American fans, so I had to be HARDCORE!  I picked Butter's team entirely because of the "Posh" nickname and the colors.  The first people I tried my new fake fan-dom on?  Here.  FAIL!

Baseball:  MLB died to me with the lost WS of 1997.  Screw you, MLB.

College Football: I don't really pay attention except for draft potential.

NFL: Cincinnati Bengals and I'm not in the least a casual or fair-weather fan.  I'm a die-hard.

College Basketball: UC Bearcats as well as anywhere the Huggs coaches, so currently WV Mountaineers when I can watch them.  I also have been known to root for the AZ Wildcats and Kansas Jayhawks because I've liked their programs over the years.

NBA: No thanks, once they leave college... I don't really pay attention.  The exact opposite of college/pro football.

NHL: Toronto Maple Leafs
