I just got an email from MOG last night that "we're now free" or some such.
I dunno, I'm still not even sure whether the original attraction of Spotify has worn off yet.
More apps. More playlist-building and account/friend adding.
We'll see.

Interesting. Now Rdio has a more Spotified look with drag and drop functionality.

Yeah, it's nearly the exact same thing.  The album artwork isn't showing up for me though, it's just big white spaces.

I still like rdio the best. Spotify is okay, but I always think of rdio first.

Spotify's shuffle algorithm blows. I've got a playlist of over 400 songs and it'll try to play the same song twice in a four-hour period.

excellent pairing of our library with rdio, i can now stream again for free (and you can too)

link

Library teams with Rdio to offer free unlimited streaming music

The Public Library of Cincinnati & Hamilton County announced today that it has partnered with online streaming music service Rdio to offer free unlimited streaming music.

Through its Rdio access page, the library is providing users with a code to be redeemed for 30 days of free Rdio service. After 30 days, users will receive a reminder email from Rdio, directing them to return to the library’s Rdio access page. There, users can get a new code good for another free 30-day period.

To get started, follow the directions posted here. I tried it this morning, and it took me less than 5 minutes to sign up for an account and cue up the tunes!

I was so excited to see that the library is doing that. I hadn't been able to use Rdio since my freebies ran out awhile ago, and now I can use it again, since I was being a cheapass and not getting a subscription. It has already made my work days so much better.

exactly. and if you read their twitter feed, they plan on making it indefinite...you just get a new code every month.
cool beans.

between the npr first listen, luisterpaal, spotify and rdio, you can cover a lot of ground with new (and old) releases........

rdio? People still use that?? Just kidding. I use Spotify mainly to listen to the woxy playlist of the month and other playlists that friends have put together. And to try to decide whether I want to buy an album or not. I don't pay for Spotify though. Guess I am a jerk. Wink

Oh, I also use Luisterpaal and Spotify mainly over NPR because I can scrobble my tracks. I am a stats junky at times even though my maths skills are lacking. Cheesy

i don't think listening to spotify for free makes you a jerk, mostly because i do it too!

it just means you have to suffer through commercials. thankfully you can now mute them...it didn't used to be that way.
the one that is most absurd are the ones where they say " come work for spotify, look at our website, or later if you're at work"

funny disclaimer i guess...
