1) 1/30/12 - Old 97s, Rhett Miller and The Os at the 20th Century

They tore it up as always.  The Os were good, but they were turned up WAY too loud (I know this is typical of any concert, but they seemed especially loud to where it was hard to make things out at times).  The Old 97s seem to be cursed when they come to Cincy, as they always seem to have some sort of technical difficulty.  This time, Rhett kept having problems with his acoustic guitar to the point they just abandoned it.  But it was a hell of a good time, even if the 2 girls in front of me were acting like they were seeing the Jonas brothers.

1 ● Lewis Black (Support: John Bowman) @ Taft Theater, Cincinnati 2/4

Lewis seems tired and ill. (Bad cold?). Material was weak and suffered from poor delivery. Took for ever to get to the meat and potatoes of his spiel. Disappointing.

1) 1/30/12 - Old 97s, Rhett Miller and The Os at the 20th Century
2) 2/9/12 - Mount Moriah and Craig Finn at The Basement in Columbus

Pretty damn excellent.  Mount Moriah was a little more laid back than I would have liked, but they sounded good and were entertaining.  Craig Finn was exactly what you would expect from him.  His high energy is insanely awesome, when he does slow things down, it is really heartfelt and good.  The only thing he doesn't do well is mid-tempo.  The songs are fine, but it just doesn't fit that well with his performance style.  But overall, a damn good night.

3) 2/19/12 - Mike Doughty at the Redmoor

The Redmoor was an interesting venue.  It was perfect for a smaller, laid back show like this.  Mike Doughty was awesome.  It was a combo concert/book reading, as he read some passages from his new book and told some stories as well.  I don't understand why more artists don't don't do more "storyteller" types of shows, as they are a really fascinating look into them.  I don't remember the name of the opening act, but she was terrible.  It was just her and a guitar that she learned to play 6 months ago.  She tried to best to be "indie" and "folkie" and "deep" and failed on all accounts.

Along with Louis CK, I think Stanhope is one of the best stand-ups working in America today. Geoff Tate however, gave him a run for his money. Levine - bit-player in "Portlandia" - was pretty damned funny too

I thought this was a concerts thread (not a stand-up comedians thread)....
