I am also surprised that The Adventures of Tintin didn't get a Best Animated Feature nod, but Rango was VERY good and would be happy to see it win.

Having seen it at the weekend, I think it's going to take a lot to usurp wins for "The Artist" in film, directing, and male actor.

Any nominations for "Bridesmaids" is a fucking joke whilst Streep better not win for portraying the evil despot otherwise we might be in serious need of a replacement TV come the morning after the Oscars

Very glad to see Hugo get the most nominations. That film had been criminally overlooked by the public at large. Besides being a genuingly great movie, it also is one of the best 3D movies ever. But yea, The Artist is going to give it a run for its money. I liked it, but I liked Hugo better.

Only Best Pix noms I haven't seen are Extremely Loud and The Help (both by choice, and will not see them) and War Horse (still on my list to see, although I've heard very mixed reactions about it.)

Meryl Streep is guaranteed to win another Best Actress Oscar. Seems like some people are confusing the actress' performance (out of this galaxy) with the subject person of that performance...  

I wish that The Ides of March had gotten some more noms. Also a bit surprised that when all is said and done, no noms for Ryan Gosling for either Ides or Drive. And how did Gary Oldman win a Best Actor nom for his performance (?) in Tinker Tailor??

Why would you wish that? IMHO it was a dull, ponderous, poorly scripted plodder of a movie w/too many performances merely phoned in.

I agree that Hugo is one of the best 3D movies ever.  But I think it will suffer if people don't see it in the theater in 3D.  It suffers by comparison to the others as a pure movie.

He was by far the best thing in that movie.

The ones from 2004 and back I have no interest in seeing.  I have Avatar sitting on my DVR waiting to watch it.  Figured there would be more I hadn't seen.

No, I guess not.  I haven't seen Shame, but probably a bunch of voters didn't either considering the subject matter and rating.  I am not surprised he didn't get a nom even though his performance may well be eons better than anyone else nominated.

Just now saw that a Belgian (Flemish) movie was nominated for Best Foreign Film  
People in Flanders, Belgium are raving about it. I haven't seen the movie yet myself. Not that it matters as I would be very surprised if "A Separation" does not win.
