Title: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
Post by: Hell Toupee on March 29, 2009, 05:13:02 AM
A friend of mine alerted me to this...

It comes out next week and will either be truly fantastic or a genius idea gone horribly wrong. (http://www.chroniclebooks.com/index/main,book-info/store,books/products_id,7847/title,Pride-and-Prejudice-and-Zombies/)

You can decide by reading the description from the above link. It basically keeps the text of the original novel and inserts the additional storyline of training for and encountering zombie attacks. Sounds like fun.

And Elton John is doing a movie called Pride and Predator (http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2009/feb/17/pride-and-predator-to-give-jane-austen-extreme-makeover).  You can't make this stuff up.

I'm interested in the zombie one, not so much in the EJ version. (Elton is producing, not starring, just to clarify).  And yes, either of these could be great, or could totally suck.

EW gave this book a great review! I haven't checked out any others, but seems VERY intriguing. We'll see if this type of mixed novel starts popping up all over the place as a result of this title.

I'm just not seeing it. Then again, I like neither Jane Austen nor zombies, so this book isn't exactly in what you'd call my wheelhouse.

I guess it's a clever idea, though.

Yeah, they're delicious! Especially when skewered and seasoned correctly, like dead hobos.
At least..., um, that's what a friend once told me.

Yeah.

Somehow I didn't see this thread until today.

Bought this several months ago and found it to be 100x better than the original!  This was just what the book needed to make it pleasurable to read!!!!

I'm not sure about Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters. P&P is so much better known, that it's easy to see where things change. I love how there is an explanation for why the regiment is at Merryton.

When did they start having trailers for books?

Ever since James Patterson and Jackie Collins started the trend with their commercials...
