Personally, I would have kept 6 Days and 10 AM Automatic.  Maybe the Radiohead.  The rest... I'd axe them all!

I would not delete 9-9 if it's part of Murmur.  Sometimes I want to listen to that album, and I can't see listening to that album without 9-9.  If you don't have all of Murmur on there and 9-9's just a stray single then I'd delete it too.  It has no value as a single.

I have Murmur at home to listen to if I so wish.

11-20:

10:1 – Rogue Wave
10:15 Saturday Night – The Cure
The 12 Days of Xmas – Bob & Doug McKenzie
13 Months in 6 Minutes – The Wrens
15 Minutes – The Strokes
16 Military Wives – The Decemberists
16, Maybe Less – Iron & Wine/Calexico
19-2000 – Gorillaz
22 – Magneta Lane
24 – Jem

15 Minutes… *yawn*.  Indicative of that whole release as far as I’m concerned.  I was very high on Magneta Lane when I first got that album, now it bores me, to be honest.  That song in particular.  I had to pause and listen to the Iron & Wine/Calexico song, but it was good.  No ax there.

Oftentimes I've thought about burning the random songs (read: songs I "accumulated" over the years that I don't have the physical CD for) on my hard drive to DVDs and then doing what you're doing.

But who are we kidding?

four tracks out of twenty. You'll have to speed up the chopping block to hit that 40% mark.

Yeah, at this point, if I lose them, I'd be a little sad, but I have no interest in going back and redownloading everything I've also "accumulated" if that took place.

21-30:

40 Ft – Franz Ferdinand
138th Street – The Walkmen
1000BPM – Beck
12:51 – The Strokes
Acid 8000 – Fatboy Slim
Across the Universe – Fiona Apple
Act Nice and Gentle – Black Keys
Act of the Apostle Pt. 1
& Pt. 2 – Belle & Sebastian
Aeroplane Blues – Black Keys

12:51 doesn’t quite make the cut… the song doesn’t even sound like it’s mixed right, unless they meant for the synth to completely overpower every other aspect of the song.

Acid 8000 starts out slow, but I enjoyed it enough to not ax it.

Across the Universe… I guess if I really want a cover version of it, I should just get Rufus Wainwright’s version.  This one almost put me to sleep.  I remember first hearing it and thinking how good it was.  Times change, people eat.  Goodbye, Fie-owna.

I like Act of the Apostle Pt. 1… but Pt. 2 was dangerously close to getting cut… so I decided to keep them both rather than lose them both because I didn’t think it would make sense to have one and not the other.

Oh, just cut it. It's not like they're really two parts of the same song - to me, they're mostly two songs with the same name.

31-35:

Aftermath – REM
Afternoon Sisters – Air
Ageless Beauty – Stars
Ages of You – REM
The Air Near My Fingers – White Stripes

It pains me to cut ANY REM song, but Aftermath is too typical of their last 2 albums: Bland and unremarkable in any discernible way.

Stars is quite an underrated band AFAIC, however I remember seeing a video for the song that’s playing here.  It’s “Reunion”, not Ageless Beauty.  Oops.  So, we cut short so I can fix the files.  Turns out it's just these 2 that have their names swip-swapped.  Ageless Beauty is a very good song.

AFAIC = As Far As I'm Concerned

Between the library and a bit torrent site I use I've accumulated a massive amount of stuff I'll never listen to.  I'd never get around to doing this to pare it down though.

I did manage to go through my iTunes and listen to every song with a 0 play count a year or two ago.  I've built up quite a few more since then however.

Ageless Beauty is a much better song with a much better video.  Just thought I'd add that.

Just get rid of everything REM--anything worthwhile you probably own the actual CD of, and you're not going to listen to them (do people still listen to REM?) anyway, so it's not a big deal to get out the CD when you're drunk and think it's 1989 again.
