Somehow, I don't think Kevin Durant's NBA prospects were seriously damaged by the season he spent in Austin. If anything, it prepared him for the tactics-deficient world of the NBA.

I agree with your logic, Jonathan.  He'll be ready.

It could've been that Barnes felt his best chance to win was to just let Durant go and get his points.  It seemed to work pretty well for most of the season.

If that's the case, then it shows a deriliction of duty on Barnes's part, because, as a coach, you always have to have a Plan B (and a Plan C, and maybe even a Plan D). It seemed obvious, watching Texas in the tournament, there was only a Plan A. Which proves that Barnes is an overrated coach who will probably never win a title.

Clemson's tournament attempts when he was coach there shows that he can't coach in the tourney.  The only reason he made the Final 4 a while back was he had a dominant point guard.

Yeah, he's good at recruiting. No doubt about that. And Durant will be fine - Barnes didn't kill his career or anything. I just think UT could have been so much more if Barnes knew how to coach.

I don't think anyone's particularly arguing that point.
