quote of the day:

“A lot of times, teams lose the game rather than win it,” Chargers coach Mike McCoy explained. “When you make some mistakes and turn the football over and do certain things, it hurts your football team.”

Translated: the Chargers just waited for Dalton to make mistakes. Which he did, and then some.

How do the Bengals progress from here? I don't see how, frankly. They've got so much talent that they'll be competitive, but beyond that?

I'm guessing there may be some work on the offensive line and defensive secondary.  That would seem to me to be the areas of most concern.  Not that either sucks really.  A lot of the playoffs has to do with injuries, and the Bengals definitely had their share of those.
