There's a hard-to-find short documentary film (and I know it's hard to find because I had to try to interlibrary loan it and then eventually purchase it for our library) called The Jolo Serpent Handlers about that same topic.  One of our psych professors uses it every year in one of her classes.  It seems pretty interesting.
