Happy 10th Anniversary, Randomville!
« on: June 10, 2014, 02:15:53 AM »

So I missed this by a month, but I only seem to think about it while driving, which isn't the best time to post. From what I can tell (since I missed that first year), the Randomville message board got its start on May 1, 2004. I do not know where the time went.

I feel like some reminiscing is in order. Feel free to share some of you favorite memories from over the years.

  • Randomville Raleigh board bash Memorial Day weekend 2005 - where I met Jonathan (who does still exist in the future)
  • Listing to "If I Had a Million Dollars" for the torturethon one year, Sorry, Va!
  • Best of all - meeting most of you all in person over the years. Still have a few that I still need to meet, though.

Thanks Ella. I would say that my memories stem mostly from my favorite threads: from the Bar Wars thread to some of the stupidest threads ever (Football Manager recaps) to just the ins and outs of all of our lives.

I enjoyed back when we all had time to participate in either silly games or draft threads.  Sort of a fun team building exercise that was not even intended to be, now that I look back.

Oh, that and losing my "Frontier Psychiatrist" Torturethon thread.  I remember I think it was slow-dog who pledged extra money if I would continue to listen the song after work and through dinner and into early evening and C-Fan was only too glad to oblige that bit of torture.  I was sad when we had the boards problem that dumped that and many other fine Torturethon threads into the permanent recycle bin.

Alas.  Time marches on.

Yeah, I wish we all still had that kind of time. I miss those silly games!

I miss some of the boarders who no longer post (or are no longer with us, like Steeltown Boy and JSpaceman). Ella mentioned Jonathan - I really do miss his presence here. He was a lot of fun. CTJester too (although it's good to see him around here every once in a blue moon).

Action Jim/Lawdog was fun, too. And Syd. And whigsgeek. And... blah, too many.

I was a long-time lurker before I ever posted.

The movies/books/albums threads have been great. I've gotten so many great suggestions from those.

I miss the games and drafts, too.

I'm so glad I've gotten to meet as many of you as I have, and I hope I'll meet more in the future (where Jonathan is?)!

I miss tormenting Sam/Kickinitlive.  Such an easy mark.  Does that make me a bully?
