Why is the twitter dude wearing caveman clothes?  If that was a baggy jersey with a number on it that kind of resembled the caveman clothes that might be funny but I don't think the stereotype "twittering-homeboy-douchebag" he was trying to conjure would be wearing skins and jesus sandals.  Just sayin'.

The image he was trying to conjure is one where communication peaked and then devolved. The backwards hat, I suppose, is supposed to conjure the image of "current," while the caveman clothes show how regressed the person is for engaging in the current form of communication. I'm not sold on twitter either, but the cartoon smacks of sour grapes.

That's exactly what I got from that cartoon.
As if a short, terse Tweet is somehow a regression.

Right, and what's the "peak" of communication? The very industry he works for!

The one that's dying at an incredible rate. There are some major American cities that won't have a single daily newspaper soon - some like San Francisco, Seattle and Detroit are on their last legs and being propped up by their parent companies.

No, Twitter isn't the be-all and end-all of communications. But newspapers sure as hell aren't, either. And the immediacy of the Internet is unmatched. Now to work on the efficacy...

My mom actually signed up for Twitter and I have not yet.

She literally can't even watch a DVD at home because she doesn't understand how to use the DVD player. Now you know where I get my tech skills     ;D

Patton Oswalt and Judy Blume Had an Adorable Bibliography-Off on Twitter Earlier Today

I'm still enjoying getting my celebrity news directly from the celebrity. And I really enjoy Ken Jennings's musings.
