Saw The Hunger Games (after reading the book a few months ago). I was surprised how faithfull the movie was to the book. Really a carbon-copy pretty much.

It was faithful, but it left a lot out.  As Butter mentioned you really didn't have a sense for how desperate their lives are in the district.  They don't explain the relationship between Katniss and Gale at all.  You have no idea that she's faking the romance with Peeta.  Just a handful of examples.

CAC to screen LCD concert movie on July 18

The title of that movie incidentally is "Shut Up and play the Hits'. One of those great titles, reminding me of Roxette's "Don't Bore Us, Get to the Chorus"  8)

The red banner trailer for TED makes me laugh until I ache. I don't even like FAMILY GUY but this looks incredible.

If you kids are free (and have cable), TCM is playing "Born yesterday" Sunday at 4pm (est). It's one of the best "ditzy blonde" movies ever made. Seriously, there are insults in the last 30 minutes that you will use in arguments for the rest of your life.

Uh...I can think of two reasons.

Which are still not enough reason that I'd ever sit through a movie about Katy Perry.

This really doesn't surprise me.  For what it is, I'm sure it is a perfectly fine movie.  Sure, if you compare it to a real movie, it is a joke, but if you rate it based on its intention, it is great.  People going to this movie aren't expecting a plot or character development, they are expecting some concert footage and maybe some interviews that show how cute Katy Perry is.  I'm sure the movie delivers very well on those points.

Not that I'm gonna see it, but the Katy Perry movie has gotten generally positive reviews. If this was a movie of Ke$ha, I might be tempted ;)

Why in the name of God would you find that tempting?

I was watching The Running Man on the telly last night, and it got me thinking that if there's one 80s Arnie vehicle that could really do with a remake, it's not Total Recall. The book is so dark and suspenseful, while the film is so cheesy and terrible. I suppose the same could be said of Total Recall, but a good Running Man film would be amazing.

I couldn't agree more.  That one and The Long Walk are two of my favorite King stories.  Maybe with the popularity of The Hunger Games we'll get our dystopian run/walk for your life wishes granted.

I've read The Long Walk a number of times and I always end up wondering if it would even be possible to do a film version.  You'd have to walk the cast to death to do it.  I'd love to see it though.

Not sure I could bear to watch a Long Walk adaptation - I found the book a bit traumatising! How much do you want to bet they would change the ending?
