The US failed to medal in Greco-Roman wrestling  for the first time since 1976. Disappointing.
But we got gold in Freestyle wrestling! The kid owned it.

What's wrong with our combative sports? Are we getting too nice?

Nice match. Freestyle is much more similar to American folk style (high school and college wrestling) so we tend to do better.

Apparently American's save their combative prowess for when it counts... like movie theaters and Sikh temples.

I'm not saying that to be funny, before anyone goes there.  Just the sad truth.

I don't know, does it have something to do with how the Olympic bouts are judged?

World record time for the women's 4 x 100 relay.  Take that, tiny country of Jamaica!

HUGE disappointment today for Belgium in the 4x400m men's relay. I thought for sure they'd medal. They only finished 6th, wow. The biggest letdown for Belgium in these games  :(

I was thinking the same thing.  The whole wiggle of the body just looks so weird.

London closing ceremony paid a nice tribute to Robyn Hitchcock with those lightbulb-head hats.* Yay!

While I like The Who, I'm sure the teen-aged Olympians were thinking, "why are they playing my grandparent's music"? Of course, some of them weren't even born when the Spice Girls were at the top of the charts. Yikes - I'm getting old!

Nice closing ceremonies, but more than that, GREAT Olympics. Thank you, Great Brittain! You did yourself proud.
