What are your favorite Podcasts?
« on: August 29, 2008, 09:07:12 AM »

I had my most productive day in a while yesterday as I was plugging away on this boring autocad file but listening to some hilarious sports talk. That got me thinking that maybe I need some more good podcasts to keep my mind from wandering.

So? Which ones can you recommend?

Yesterday I listened to Bill Simmons' "BS Report" and Dave Dameshek's daily LA-centric podcast. Any other fun ones?

I highly recommend "Scene, Unscene" with Chris & Jimmy. Its a movie review podcast of current and older stuff.

NPR's All Songs Considered is a good one for discovering new music.

Also, I hear Jimmy Pardo has a good one.

You can subscribe to Scene, Unseen through their website: http://www.sceneunseenpodcast.com/
Or you can subscribe through iTunes' podcasts.

I listen to the podcasts of NPR's "This American Life".

Ditto.

Brian listens to a bunch.  He likes the aforementioned Jimmy Pardo podcast called Never not Funny.  He also listens to something called something like WFMU's best show ever.  I find it highly annoying, but he seems to like it.

He also listens to Forty year-old boy (it's by Mike Schmidt), Comedy and everything else with Todd Glass and Jimmy Dore, Battleship Pretension (it's a movie podcast by film students), and I love the movies with Doug Benson.

He's in his studio working all day, so he pretty much listens to podcasts constantly.

Thanks for the links guys. I'll check them out next week at work.

Note: I'm fairly confident that the iTunes route is blocked for us. The podcasts I've listened to I've gotten straight from their sources.

Hah. My first attempt at something new is NPR's "All Songs Considered." The first note I hear is Ra Ra Riot... a woxy fave and a band I've seen about 5 or 6 times now. I dunno - something ironic about that.

I listen to the NPR Sunday Puzzle, Sound Opinions, and Wait Wait Don't Tell Me.

I have many All Songs Considered downloaded, but I'm over a year behind in listening.

If anyone casually listens to the "Daves of Thunder" podcast, I highly recommend this weeks episode. The whole crew goes to a beer garden type place and just get really drunk. Good stuff.
