No, no I can't do it. However I am hoping to beat the miserable few I saw in '08.

1. Thee Emergency with the Whore Moans (Vera Project, Seattle) 01/09. Wasn't too impressed with the Whore Moans, though Rolling Stone recently praised them. I was extremely impressed with Thee Emergency though and want to see them in a venue where it's not all teenagers.   www.myspace.com/theeemergency

2. Lake City Union Orchestra (University of Washington, Seattle) 01/24. Very impressed by the musicianship and the build up in songs was intriguing at times. Plus, there was even a big ol' burly baritone singer there. But the first thing I noticed was that there was no guitar and I often got bored. Though I respect the symphony, I'm just happier at a bar seeing some small band.  http://www.luco.org/

I'm going to give this a go, but it's going to be tough.

1. Thee Emergency with the Whore Moans (Vera Project, Seattle) 01/09.
2. Lake City Union Orchestra (University of Washington, Seattle) 01/24.
3. Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings (Showbox at the Market, Seattle) 01/31. Final show of their most recent tour and the best performance I've seen from them in 3 tries. I couldn't imagine missing a S.J. show when it rolls around. The energy exported and absorbed at that show is insane.

Tonight I'm picking up concert #1 of the year:

1.  Andrew Bird w/ Loney Dear - Orpheum Theater, Los Angeles

I'm so psyched.  Andrew Bird puts on the most amazing shows.  If you've never seen him live, you MUST do it.

1. Glasvegas / Angela McCluskey @ Bowery Ballroom, NYC 01/06/09
2. Ida Maria @ Mercury Lounge, NYC 01/15/09
3. Passion Pit / Paper Route @ Bowery Ballroom, NYC 02/04/09
4. Beirut / Kaki King @ Brooklyn Academy of Music, Brooklyn, NY 02/07/09
5. The Morning Benders / The Submarines / Dawn Landes @ Mercury Lounge, NYC 02/10/09
6. White Rabbits / Holly Miranda @ Mercury Lounge, NYC 02/18/09

Good show. Everyone speaks highly of White Rabbits and I think they might have been overhyped. But at the same time, I couldn't believe their whole 45 min. set was over as fast as it was, so maybe they really were very good.

Every time I see Andrew Bird, I swear it gets better.  Last night's show was absolutely amazing.  The layers upon layers of sound are overwhelming.  I also liked Loney Dear a lot - never really having heard (or heard OF) them before.  If it weren't for pesky things like a job, I swear I'd fly up to San Francisco today to see him again.
