I just saw Wilco flash on the woxy ad banner there a second ago.
So sad to hear this. Dude was too young.

Now I'm waiting for the foul play conspiracy theories. It seems he was suing Tweedy.

He was suing him for royalties, yeah.  I don't think there's any foul play going on here, though.  He was facing major knee surgery, which he openly explained how he didn't have the money to pay for it because he had no health insurance.  I think that was probably the main impetus for the lawsuit.

Also, Bennett was by all accounts a heavy substance abuser for a long time (although he had been clean(er) these last few years).  The drugs catch up with you in the end.  In drug years, 45 is like 80 if you're regularly using them.

RIP Jay Bennett. Some of Wilco's stuff is brilliant. I haven't really heard A Ghost Is Born but Yankee Hotel Foxtrot succeeds on the promise one of the tracks makes - "I am trying to break your heart" - almost every time I listen to it. A.M. is pretty good, too. Too bad about Bennett, and my condolences and prayers go to his family, friends, bandmates, and fans.
