Ok, I was a little skeptical on this one before hearing/seeing much about it, but now that E3's come and gone, I'm much more impressed with what was on demo.

For those who don't know, Activision is releasing DJ Hero in the fall, complete with turntable peripheral and 80+ versus tracks of popular songs remixed by well known DJs (Z-Trip, DJ Shadow, etc...). I didn't think it would be that good considering the pedigree for this type of game, but after seeing it in action and seeing how the turntable works, I'm thoroughly impressed.

Here's some of the gameplay that was shown at E3:

Most of these videos are on expert mode, but there are 5 different difficulty levels, so there are easier tracks than these. This is to give an idea of how it plays...

The concept of a true Guitar Hero is something that comes from the music world and how fans turn their favorite musicians into "heroes." Someone who is amazing at the guitar almost becomes a god, right?

No one has ever put the terms DJ and Hero together. Maybe the game is awesome but the name is purely a marketing gimmick that, while I understand why they did it, still pisses me off.

Sorry. My brain is having trouble computing what exactly is a DJ Hero.

Does anyone watch the show Heroes? I don't, but it'd be funny if there was a character on there named DJ. That'd put me in my place. :)

I don't like the guitar hero games, but I'll definitely buy this if it comes out for the Wii.

Dan, there's plenty of DJs who are considered every bit a hero by their fans as any "guitar god" is by theirs. Yes, the name was used as an extension of the "Hero" brand, but it's completely plausible.

Not to mention DJ's Shadow, AM, Z-Trip, Jazzy Jeff, J. Period, Cut Chemist, and Grandmaster Flash.

Yeah, I have a feeling I'll stay on Beginner mode for a loooong time.  Still, at least I'll have good music to listen to.

It's $40 at Best Buy for the game and controller. The controller by itself is $20.

I might pick up the controller in prep for DH2.

Are they going to make a #2?  Seems like with the price the game has fallen to, that it has failed.
