The moral of this story:

You'll end up with your head in the oven if you move to New York.

or

You'll end up with a bun in the oven if you have slutty roommates and no self-esteem

or

A banana in the butterfly chair is better than Bjork in a fur coat.

Seen extracts galore from this film featuring performances and backstage shenanigans from some of the biggest British bands of the late 60's but never the whole film in its entirety. Joe Cocker aside, a nice night-time diversion

12. Terminator Salvation - 4.5
13. Moon - 9
14. Winning Time: Reggie Miller vs. The New York Knicks - 8
15. Diary of a Wimpy Kid - 5
16. How to Train your Dragon (in 3D!!!!) - 7
17. The Hurt Locker - 8
18. Gigantic - 4
19. Paper Heart - 3
20. 2001: A Space Odyssey - 12
21. Date Night - 8
22. Precious - 9
23. Oceans - 6
24. The Blind Side - 7
25. Airplane! - 10
26. Alice in Wonderland (2010) - 4
27. Chaplin - 8
28. Where the Wild Things Are - 3
29. Raising Arizona - 10
30. Gentlemen Broncos - 5
31. Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief - 6
32. Tooth Fairy - 2.5
33. Serpico - 8.5

34. Marmaduke - 3
35. Shrek Forever After - 6

Double feature at the local drive-in on Friday.  Kids stayed awake until nearly 1 AM for both features.  One of my favorite nights of the year is the night we get to go to the drive-in.  Even though the movies weren't great, there's just something more fun about it, especially when we pick a night that is not blazing hot or rainy.

Although Shrek did have some good lines, like when Shrek moans about signing something he shouldn't have, and then Donkey says "oh, you got one of those timeshares too?"

I'm not exactly sure what Dan was on about in his earlier complaining of this film... Shrek yearns to return to his true love and his children.  Everybody gets stuck in a rut sometimes.  Including Shrek movies.

13. Will Ferrell You're Welcome America: A Final Night with George W. Bush
14. Inglorious Basterds
15. Ratatouille
16. Poseidon Adventure

17. Shrek Forever After - I really enjoyed it.  We saw it in 3-D which really didn't add all that much but it was neat to look at.  This was my first experience with 3-D movies since channel 19 in Cincinnati showed King Kong or Godzilla or some such in 3-D back in the 80s.

I agree with Butter, I think Dan got this wrong.  I don't think they were pushing the humdrum work-a-day life as much as much as it was a lesson in not taking what you have for granted which I think is a noble and important lesson.  I definitely thought for a second about what life would be like if I had never met Julie and it made me sad so I'd say they definitely achieved something there.  If you ever get a girlfriend, Dan, you can give it a try, you'll see what I mean.

Well for the record - I did really like Shrek. And you guys are right: the idea that you shouldn't take for granted what you have instead of longing for what you don't have is a good lesson that was clearly the primary point of the film.

I obviously overanalyzed. I mean, who would have thunk it?
