I do have issues with Hollywood trying to tell me that a boring, repetitive, work-a-day family style is what we should all strive for. I'm not even there and I already hate when they tell me that this is the best I'll ever have. But whatev.

You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake...

1) The Hangover - It was funny I guess.  Never been to Vegas, so a lot of it was lost on me.
2) Inglorious Basterds - Pretty kickass when Brad Pitt was on the screen.  Still cool otherwise.
3) District 9 - One of the best Sci-Fi movies I've ever seen.  I'm buying this one to add to my DVD collection of like 20 films.
4) G-Force - About as lame as I figured it would be.  I'm still amazed Tracy Jordan does voice overs for kids movies.
5) Moon - I'd never even heard of this before I read all of your reviews.  I liked it.  I wasn't blown away by it, but I thought it was a good, solid sci-fi movie.  It was a refreshing change to have the robot not trying to kill the guy.
6) The Hurt Locker - I liked this.  I've been sick of shoot 'em up war movies and this was more of a sciency take on war.  I wish there was more cool bomb diffusing stuff.
7) 9 - Pretty much as awesome as I expected it to be.
8 ) Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs - I thought it was freakin' hillarious.  So did the kids.  The wife, not so much.  I think she's a purist and wanted it to be like the book.  But face it, that would be pretty boring.  Loved the Monkey Thought Translator and the Rat Birds.
9) The Fantastic Mr. Fox - An excellent adaptation.  I thought it stayed very true to the spirit of the book.  It was funny and sweet and madcap.  The use of the Beach Boys was pretty artful.
10) Surrogates - Somewhat interesting premise, crappily done.  Once I learned the antagonist's motivation, I was done.
11) Yes Man - Another typical Jim Carrey movie.  It was good, mindless, folding the laundry entertainment.
12) Bright Star - Got suckered into watching this stupid, boring period piece about people wearing silly hats.  So slow my wife even fell asleep and it was her pick.
13) Up In The Air - Depressing watch for me.  Too many lay offs coupled with a boring back story and uninteresting characters.
14) Ponyo - This was excellent.  Miyazaki always delivers on the super adorable.
15) The Princess and the Frog - The kids loved it, the wife had some kind of argument on how Disney is racist, I just thought it was awesome animation and enjoyed the whole thing.
16) Where the Wild Things Are - Boring as shit.  It was like taking some off your favorite childhood creatures and using them as puppets to conduct a therapy session.
17) Astro Boy - I used to love watching this show when I was a kid, so I was worried about this one.  They did a really good job with it though and made Astro Boy the same humble super powered robot he was in the manga.
18) Twilight: New Moon - I got guilted into watching this with the wife.  The only thing good I can say about it was it was tbetter than the first one, much in the same way that one turd is a prettier shade of brown than another one.
19) How To train Your Dragon 2D - What a cool movie.  Pretty faithful to the original books and really fun and heartwarming.  We loved it.
20) Ninja Assasin - Stupidly boring.
21) Strangers on a Train - Caught this Saturday night on TCM's Essentials series.  I would agree that it is essential viewing.  It was the best Hitchcock movie I've ever seen.
22) Kick-Ass - What a fun movie.  Pretty much a must see for comic book nerds.
23) Sherlock Holmes - WOW!...soooooo good.  I really hope there's a sequel and that it is also directed by Guy Ritchie.  Just checked IMDB on a whim and it looks like there will be one...Untitled Sherlock Holmes Sequel (2011) (pre-production)

24) Alice in Wonderland - We really dug this.  Pretty cool effects and whatnot.  Loved the Jabberwocky and and how they tried to model a lot of it from the Lewis Carrol novel illustrations.

25) The Road - Finally got to check this out.  Similar to the book, but not as bleak, if you can imagine that.  The narrative style was o.k., but there's no way they could have come close to the narrative style in the book.  Save your money and go to the library and get the book.

I keep thinking about this movie. If your heart doesn't melt when they press their beds and hands against their shared wall, you are dead inside.

24. Where the Wild Things Are - This movie just misses its different audiences. The story isn't compelling enough for adults and there's just not enough fun from the monsters for the kids. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't good either.
25. Wendy & Lucy - The performance from Michelle Williams is very good, but I just never could get into the story. Luckily, it was a short movie or I wouldn't have made it through the whole thing.

36. The Damned United - 8

I enjoyed the movie as a pure story, and thought that Michael Sheen was absolutely fantastic in it, as were the supporting cast.  Problem I had was that I have no reference to this story.  I don't know a thing about English football prior to the 2000's, so I have no frame of reference for this.  It sure built up Brian Clough to be some sort of genius manager brought down by his egomaniacal need for revenge against the old manager of Leeds.  It was almost as if he took over Leeds just to tear it down.  But then you get the tack on that he went on to take Nottingham Forest to winners of Europe in 1979 and 1980 and was "the best manager England never had".  Was he really?  I have no flippin' idea.
