I'm very excited for
10-19 Elephant Stone
10-21 Vacation and Sonic Avenues

Unfortunately I might not make the Sonic Avenues show (which I am super bummed about) because I'll most likely be at Ubahn.

Speaking of MOTR, the Andy Pratt scheduled to perform there on June 5 is not the guy of Avenging Annie fame but a younger performer with the same name.  Yours in accuracy, DRJ.

Several outstanding shows coming up:

6/22 yes, TONIGHT: Surfer Blood
I love those guys and it's a darn shame that this is on a weeknight, and hence impossible for me.

6/24 Sarah Shook & the Disarmers
I saw her at the Nelsonville Music Festival a few weeks ago. Outstanding country. And you're not gonna mess with that girl...

Still kicking myself for missing this show (it had BOYTOY opening)

Having seen BOYTOY twice last weekend, I admit I am in swoons about this band. An absolute mystery to me they are not bigger yet.

Tonight, Kid Congo Powers.  Yes, he was in the Gun Club, Cramps and Bad Seeds, but he's great on his own as well. I'll be there.

Not as amazing as when he played Midpoint in '14 (I think that's when it was) but really, really good.  His own songs hold their own with the Cramps and Gun Club covers (I saw him with the latter band at the Jockey Club back in the day).  Not just punchy rock and roll, either--toward the end of the set was a long, slower instrumental that worked quite well.

The gig was really a co-headlining one, since Slim Cessna's Auto Club played for 51 minutes instead of the usual 25 to 30.  They were really enjoyable as well.  Guess I have another band to explore in more detail. I'll just add them to the list of 93,887,428 others I need to listen to in more detail.  You never run out of stuff to check out when you're a music fanatic.
