I think David Lowery wrote an article about Spotify's payouts after "Low" from Cracker reached it's 1 millionth play. He outlined how all those plays resulted in him receiving.... about $16.

It was a number of years ago, but you get the picture. No, there's not any real payout for an artist to do that.

It was a number of years ago, but you get the picture. No, there's not any real payout for an artist to do that.

So, I thought maybe I could google for that article. But it turns out that Lowery headed a class-action lawsuit against Spotify, which seems to have lasted a couple years and then there was a $43 million settlement. So I don't know what the current status is.
