I've listened to this month's playlist A LOT so thank you to all.

I already added my 5, but if I could I'd throw Japandroids - The House That Heaven Built onto the list since it's playing on KEXP as I type and it really rocks out.

if you are paying super close attention you may have noticed i switched out the opening track, grand duchy's white out. the album version is better than the single version that was up first. the former is more of a remix that flows better into errors and trust- not that it's THAT important, but.....yeah.

grand duchy, if you haven't bothered to look into them, are frank black and violet clark's (his wife) efforts. i SO want to like them but dang....it just keeps coming up a little short. they are doing this kind of interesting warholian stuff with their latest album by putting out absurd videos that are more performance than for the songs. and, every now and then they have parts of songs that i really like but it is equally as frustrating, which i guess is the respectful way of saying "bad".

I was digging the Grand Duchy track you put on the list so I checked out the album. About halfway through I was ready for it to be over. I agree there are some interesting moments now and again, but as a whole it's just not working for me.

i hear ya.
i like the use of the narrator throughout but the songs are just too scattershot. it's perplexing too because frank has such musical output...it's like he just keeps the faucet running and doesn't question quality that much, and yet, pixies will not commit to new material. maybe that's why- nothing will be good enough to qualify but he can continue his creative exorcising with side projects.

anyway, grand duchy's best song to date is fort wayne off their first album and worth a listen.

I added a 6th song. Sue me!

It's not new - it's from M83's double album from last year. I just wanted to hear the little girl's story a few more times and thought this was a good place to put it.

I started May's. I have nothing to put in it yet, but it's there.

No wonder I liked it so much when I heard it elsewhere. Sorry! I'll delete it.

that alcoholic faith mission song gets very bon iver-y in the middle. i don't mind it.

i put the PIL song up because it has been so long since they have done anything, but i can't say it is all that interesting. lollipop opera has more character, but it's pretty redundant and long to abuse you guys with.....
