So after last night it's looking more and more like Bernie has a very good chance of becoming the Democratic nominee.

If that happens, America will have the choice between two white males, both well into their 70s. One is a fascist, the other a socialist. Yea, that is what this country has come to...

I'm pretty disappointed in the supposed heartland Democrats/Never Trumpers/Obama-to-Trump voters.

They could have gotten behind any number of moderate candidates.  Corey Booker is a pretty conservative and smart guy.  Harris is...very annoying..but also really politically astute.  Yang to me is actually a Republican (before the GOP went off the rails).  But nope.  They wanted Biden, who actually isn't all that moderate, he just goes with the flow.

At some point, it was inevitable that people would be like "Wait, why are we all supporting Biden?  Just because we think he has the best chance of winning?  And that chance is mostly based on he's an old white dude who appeals to old white dudes? Naw, screw that."

Bernie is not a Socialist, man. I know he calls himself that, and compared to the rest of the candidates it's kind of fair.  But in most of Europe he'd just be typical center-left.  I don't really like him as a President either, but I'm not digging the way we are splitting the country between facists and socialists.  It's too knee-jerk.  And it actually fuels the Bernie supporters just like calling Trump supporters "deplorable" fueled them.

I don't have a solution, though.  I do legit find Trump supporters deplorable.  When they say I'm trying to destroy their culture, they're right.  I don't think that means I have to do the opposite of Trump (which I guess is Bernie, to most people).  But my brand of moderate isn't going to sell to the public. I still hate Trump every bit much as Bernie supporters.  Actually a lot more than they do, since some Trump and Bernie share that populist appeal to the same groups I want to crush.

I'll end up voting whoever is the Democratic nominee, but if I had my choice, I'd rather have Pete, Amy or Bloomberg.

I think Biden is hanging on by a thread at this point, as is Warren. I figure Warren will be gone by end of February (right after South Carolina), and Biden after Super Tuesday. The big unknown is what impact Bloomberg will have on Super Tuesday. By then Bloomberg will have spent half a billion dollars, repeat HALF A BILLION DOLLARS. Of course that's just a few scraps of his reported worth of 61.5 billion.

Yeah, that's how we get screwed, unfortunately.  We will vote for Bernie or whoever if we had to.  Many of the Bernie Bros/Yang Gang wouldn't do the same.  I don't see a choice, though.

It's frustrating because Virginia turned blue by running a lot of moderate or at least not too far left candidates and they are getting a shit ton done.  We passed ERA, decriminalized weed, allowed localities to decide what to do with statues instead of the state, gun control. Replaced Lee-Jackson day with a holiday on election day.  All of these Bill's that had languished for years all sailed through in 3 weeks.  You don't need to go all out left to get stuff done.

I'm puzzled by why people think Barr's statements today are so meaningful.  He thinks Trump is a hard guy to work for.  That is 100% true because Trump is an incompetent dick.  But it doesn't mean Barr is going to deviate from his view of the unitary executive.  He works for Trump, he just wishes Trump weren't an imbecile.  Basically, "I could have gotten this whole Stone thing done a lot easier if Trump wouldn't tweet."  He sees nothing wrong with it, just wish it had been easier.

If Bernie wins, and it looks like VA is locked up blue, I'll vote trade with you if you want, euro60.  You vote Sanders and I will write in Kasich.
