Selah Sue - s/t
« on: April 14, 2012, 12:32:16 AM »

Has anyone heard of her? She's a 22 yr. old from Belgium who released her debut album last year, and it caused a sensation in Belgium and a few other European countries. Think of Lauryn Hill/Erykah Badu/Amy Winehouse. Very derivative, but oh so good. It's been a top-seller for over a year in several European countries.

Had this been released by a UK or US girl, this would've caused a major sensation, I have no doubt. I read that this is getting a US release in the next few months (although it's available on Amazon as an import). Not sure if it will get any traction here, but it should. It's a major "guilty pleasure". And to think this girl is 22, and wrote/co-wrote all of the songs, it just blows the mind.

I saw Selah Sue in concert this past weekend at the U Street Music Hall in DC. Wow, just wow. Talent is dripping off of that girl. I have no idea if she can break big in the US, but by all means she should.

Before the November tour, she's now also doing a bunch of dates opening for Ed Sheeran. Had I known this, for sure I would've gotten tix for the DC show. Alas, it's already sold out...

This name always makes me think of Salem Sue, world's largest holstein cow.  That is all.
