1. Shattered Glass - dvd - Confirmed what we all suspected: Hayden Christensen isn't all that good of an actor. Hank Azaria has some uncanny screen presence, though.

2. Love - Netflix streaming - Good flick, if a bit slow. Gorgeous imagery. RIYL 2001: A Space Odyssey.

1) Blackout

3 people trapped in an elevator for hours.  Being trapped in an elevator would be better than having to watch this.

Movies seen in 2013 (new movies in bold):
1. Life of Pi

Very, very good. I thoroughly enjoyed it and even lifted my "no-3D ever" rule just for this one.

1. Shattered Glass - dvd - 2.5 / 5
2. Love - Netflix streaming - 3 / 5

3. Aeon Flux - Netflix streaming - 2.5 / 5

Alright, I guess. They didn't capture the essence of the cartoon so much as imitate it.

4. Melancholia - Netflix streaming - 3 / 5

Not sure how to take this one. Some fantastic scenes, plus a neat concept kept my interest. But it felt overlong, especially the first part.

I liked the ending.

No one in that film really deserved something good to happen to them.  Theron will go back to be a cunt-y, faux "big" city girl which is all she's good at and where she is at least semi-happy.  Everyone else stays where they are where they are happy, but lame.  Maybe the only one who deserved something good was Patton Oswalt, but hey, he got to have sex with Charlize Theron which is a pretty huge score for a him.  What more could a guy like that ask for?  I thought it was realistic, and I thought it was hilarious that it let everyone down who was thinking this would be some kind of a rom-com.  Guess what?  Shit doesn't work that way.

New to me films in bold
adding
1 Iron Sky
Jazzed to see this suddenly appear on Netflix. Remarkably silly b-movie about Nazis on the moon who find themselves battling a Sarah Palin-esque US President
2 Absinthe
Booze doc. Quite interesting. It's never been a drink I have wanted to consume at home though... it feels far more social than that to me. The movie did make me yearn one!

Maybe I can actually keep up as the year progresses!

1. This Is 40 (Crossroads 20) 7 of 10 - I really wanted to like this more (especially since I'm 40, which I'm still not sure how has happened). It gets an extra point for having Paul Rudd as Pete, who I'll watch in anything. There were several places where I was the only one in the theater who laughed. Lots of great bands on the girls' t-shirts. Given their preference for pop, I'm guessing they were Pete's originally.
