Guess. The worms are 4 inches long and the jar holds 64 ounces.

How hard can it be?

1). Determine volume of gummy worm.
2). Determine volume of jar or however much the jar is filled with gummy worms.
3). Divide.
4). Make a half-ass adjustment for the compressibility and stackability of gummy worms.

Because your adjustment is half-ass, you wonít get the right answer.  But no amount of measuring and math is going to get you any closer.  Itís just not that complex a problem.

Only one person got within 50 worms of the correct answer and she guessed 226.  I think most entries were guesses, but a couple, like that ruler guy, did spend some time working out an answer that wasn't even close.  Maybe they didn't carry the 1.

with dewey gone and people requesting books and shit online, are librarians more important than ever?  is it any different than amazon?  i love when i'm checking out and some book will come to mind and the librarian will sleuth it out for me.  i read a list of quentin tarantino's favorite movies in a playboy and i wrote one them done once.  on a lark i queried the librarian and he spent a considerable amount of time locating it.  i kept saying to not worry about it but he seemed to really enjoy doing it.  i forgot to mention that i was going to be out of the country for the next couple of weeks and i should probably do this then.  it's unfortunately what i do

This has been basically 100% of my interaction with librarians in the past few years. They also personally reco music once a month, which just feels cooler than an algorithm.

The physical space adds a lot too. My nerdier daughter likes to go just to wander around and hang out.
