He gave Venezuelans free national healthcare and education. But he was also outspoken against the USA, so therefore he's an evil fuck.

(This is tongue-in-cheek, by the way...)
So you liked Chavez? Not sure what your tongue-in-cheek means

May he rot in pieces.
Why? What did he do to you?

Well, he wasn't a very nice guy.  I think it's fair to whether he would be so hated by US conservatives (or so well-tolerated by liberals) had he not engaged in so much anti-US/Bush rhetoric.  Or if everyone didn't have a knee-jerk reaction to "Socialism."  Also fair to wonder whether it is possible to be a nice guy and be President of Venezuela and if maybe he wasn't the best option available for that country.

But still, all in all pretty much a huge douche.  I'm not the kind of dude who revels in anyone dying because well, I think that's just stupid.  Nonetheless, it seems like most people express such sentiments from time to time for reasons that are beyond me.  And out of all the people who take shit for dying, Chavez is at the low end of the sympathy scale so... whatever.

I think he was better than Kim Jong Il or Saddam Hussein so there's something positive to remember him by sort of.

what is your reaction to socialism?  personally i feel it's too beautiful a philosophy for humans

I feel more that way about capitalism, at least in its form as Adam Smith envisioned it.

But any economic or political theory in its purest form pretty much overestimates the capability/goodness of people or at least a group of people.

The answer to most problems is always somewhere in the middle.

Dude is still dead.
