What did he do to me, personally or directly? Nothing.
But according to the media, he wasn't a friend of my country or anything else that basically gives me a comfortable way of life.
According to the state department, he allowed his country to fall into (or remain in) a state in which it was unsafe for me to travel there. Colombia used to be like that...they have now cleaned it up some. Venezuela? Not so much.
He also allowed his country to fall into (or remain in) a state in which stuff like what happened to Brayan Villarreal to be a 'ho-hum' story and be 'yeah we have heard about stuff like this a dozen times before' and how now Brayan has to say things like 'if they had known who they were robbing, my brother would have been kidnapped.' WHAT?!?! Chavez was running that country. If nothing else, Chavez needed to be the one to stop that, and he didn't do anything effective.
Soooo, yeah, that's why it would be arguable to say that while he didn't do anything to me directly, he did a whole lot of other things to his own people which were pretty bad.
