I just finished this yesterday.  It was much more enjoyable than I expected. Is it weird that I like Alex a lot more than I like Piper (well, to be honest, I like a lot of the characters better than Piper).

Has anyone read the book it was based on?  I just wonder how much is true (well, true to the book which I'm sure was also embellished) versus invented for the series.

I did hate the ending though.  I am a fan of each season being self contained and the big points being resolved. I hate the whole cliffhanger ending to a season.

I was wondering that about the book too. It's on my reading list but with the crazy wait at the library, it will probably be some time next year.

Agreed on liking the other characters more than Piper and that the ending was kind of a disappointment. My favorite aspect of the show had to be the glimpses into the other inmates lives and their offenses.  I'm curious what they'll do with season 2 and hoping it holds up as well.

I was traveling last week so I was able to watch a couple more episodes. I was out West and ran out of reading material for the flight home so I bought the book. I'm about half way done and while it is OK it isn't nearly as entertaining as the show it is an ok read. However if I hadn't watched the show first I don't think I would have much interest in the book. It is easy to see where the plots for some of the episodes come from in the book but they are definitely expanded and embellished for the show.

Finished watching all episodes on Netflix and also the book during a trip last week. The book actually turned out to be a good read. As far as the show - I can't wait for season 2! From what I've read that may not be until 8/14, has anyone heard anything different?

I will send the book to anyone that is interested in reading it, just pm your address and it's yours.

I wasn't really looking forward to season 2, but I've seen 3 episodes and I like it more than season 1.

Season 1 we were able to pick it up and put it down, but we flew through Season 2.  Finished it last night after 4 days of binge watching. Easily preferred season 2 over season 1.

Interesting.... I've really enjoyed Season 2 but personally feel that Season 1 had more 'bite' to it in terms of story lines and characterisation

We've only made it to episode 8 or 9. So, I'm not really reading what else has been posted here yet.
But, I had to pop in and share my favorite line of the season so far.

I finally made it to the end of Season 2 (working from home because I'm not feeling well does have it's advantages!). I loved the season, especially the way it ended. Looking forward to season 3 starting this summer!

The real inspiration for the Alex Vause character is Cleary Wolters, who is from - of all places - Anderson Township (a Cincinnati suburb). She returns to town on May 9 to sign her new book Out of Orange: A Memoir at Jo-Beth Bookstore in Rookwood Commons.
