The real inspiration for the Alex Vause character is Cleary Wolters, who is from - of all places - Anderson Township (a Cincinnati suburb). She returns to town on May 9 to sign her new book Out of Orange: A Memoir at Jo-Beth Bookstore in Rookwood Commons.
It will be interesting to read Wolters' book and compare it to Orange is the New Black. Have you read it?

Sorry, for some reason I am just seeing your post, Mik. No, I haven't read Wolters' book yet but am interested and will get to it eventually.

Have you (or anyone else) read it yet?

And what are everyone's thoughts on Season 3? I'm a bit let down because it seems too contrived and unrealistic.

Ok, thank you. I may look to pick up the book also.

I've only watched the first episode so far from season 3 and I was not impressed. Based on how last season ended I expected a little more. Oh well, if I move at the pace I did for season 2 I should be done with season 3 in January...........

Piper Kerman is coming to Cincinnati on Sept. 9 as keynote speaker at the Ohio Policy & Justice Center's annual fundraiser. Ain't cheap but sounds interesting.

I just binge watched Season 1 last week and glad that I could watch the Season 2 first episode immediately! However, after 3 episodes into Season 2, I've reached my saturation point. So I'm taking a break for a few days before finishing off the season. I'm really enjoying it - especially the background stories for the various inmates.

This weekend on "Ask Me Another", Uzo Aduba (Crazy Eyes) was the Very Important Puzzler (VIP). I enjoyed the interview: http://www.npr.org/2015/08/27/434969744/random-questions-with-uzo-aduba

I've had trouble keeping up interest with season 3 and have stalled after watching three episodes - I need to get back into it!
I did see that Aleida (Elizabeth Rodriquez) from the series is now in the Fear the Walking Dead......
