woo hoo, let's get this party started. New to me movies are in bold.

2014 movies:
1. American Hustle good acting, tight story, and incredible set design. However, it didn't do much for me.
2. Two Weeks Notice: still amusing, and something that can be watched while doing other things (i.e. laundry)
3. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
4. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
So I saw these two back-to-back, mostly because I wanted to compare the Legolas of 2002 with the Legolas of 2013. I think they changed his eye color between movies. (Yes, that's what I came away with.) Still really good movies and the Battle of Helm's Deep is incredible.
5. The Proposal- could have been so much better. I wanted more out of this!
6. Saving Mr. Banks Clothing was amazing, the acting incredible- you expect it from Thompson and Hanks, but Colin Farrell was brilliant. And the little girl playing mini-PL Travers was so good, and she had a huge role to play.

1. Monster High 13 wishes - I tried to avoid it, but alas I could not.
2. The Heat - Was pretty funny.

OK, someone needs to explain in more detail what this Monster High movie is, because I've never even heard of it.  Is that the Zombie Barbie doll-type thing I've seen?

1. AMERICAN HUSTLE - 01/01/14 - AMC Pkwy Pointe w/Amanda and va_vacious - 3 out of 5
2. ANCHORMAN 2 - 01/05/14 - AMC Barrett Commons 24 w/Gwynner - 2 out of 5 - I laughed a lot in the beginning but this movie is just 99% stupid. Also, all of the "black" stuff was weird WeIRD WEIRd.

Yup.  They're movies based on the scantily clad monster high school themed fashion dolls.  I'm not their biggest fan, but the kid loves them.  The movie could be worse, but it's still one of those gross over generalization and warped views of high school.  Ghoul finds genie, genie grants wishes, ghoul wants to be popular and is taken over by evil shadow genie, ghoul learns lesson that being popular isn't most important, but ends up popular anyway.  She can watch it on occasion, but not without some parental commentary.

Was this a straight-to-DVD, a VOD, a Netflix, or a theatrical release?  How bad was the torture?

I'll try this quest this year, since books will probably never happen, and shows and albums are far too easy.

2014

1. Blackfish = 3/5 = Well done documentary about how serious effed up SeaWorld is. Sickening, shocking, sad... but well done and for a worthy cause.

1. Safety Not Guaranteed - Netflix - 4/5

Reasonably solid indie film. Not amazing, but I liked it a lot, and I'm still thinking about it two days later.

We enjoyed that one more than we expected as well, and it is one of those brain lingererers, isn't it?

New (to me) films in bold

1 ● West Side Story
2 ● The Weird World of Blowfly
3 ● One Night in Turin
4 ● The Guilt Trip
5 ● The Rutles: All You Need is Cash
6 ● Matt LeTissier: Unbelievable
7 ● World Cup Fever 1966
8 ● Cowboys & Aliens
9 ● Changing Lanes

adding
10 ● Looking for Lenny
Nicely reverent documentary/homage to one of the planets greatest ever comedians. Astonishing how much he was hounded by authorities, amazing that decades on censorship still exists in the media despite supposed free speech
11 ● The Sweeney (2012)
Remake of an old UK TV favourite. Total and utter bollocks, Ray Winstone - who I normally love as an actor - particularly pants, albeit having to deal with a piece-of-shit script. *Ugh*
12 ● Sleeping Beauty (2001)
Lots of gratuitous nudity twinned with morally bankrupt and hugely uncomfortable storyline
13 ● Rock'n'Roll High School
Gabba Gabba HEY this is a timeless classic!

Straight to dvd, but there is a cartoon on one of the networks I think. It's pretty predictable.

In terms of torture, it's not as painful as the zu zu pets dvds but worse than some of the more recent barbie dvds.

1.) Zu Warriors - A mid-grade martial arts film. Immortals battling unspeakable evil only observed by a single mortal girl who narrates the tale. It's short so that's a plus... and there's really very little story set-up. It is clearly a vehicle for special effects and martial arts-y fighting.

Be glad you don't have any girls Butter.  If Monster High sounds bad how about My Little Pony Equestria Girls... it's like Monster High except instead of slutty monster girls it's slutty horse girls.  Nora is obsessed with it and there was only one of them which she only saw one time months ago.

Kwyj, whatever you do, do NOT show Nora the my little pony game in the app store. It's started to bring the equestria girls into it. E is addicted to the game.
