Abandoned Movies in 2015
« on: January 12, 2015, 10:20:17 AM »

1. Sex Tape

The g/f and I turned to each other at exactly the same moment....approximately 30 or so minutes in...and both were like, "this is awful." It felt like a lame (let me emphasize LAME) sit com plot.

Yes. The movie is not worth watching ever.

the fault lies entirely with you.  at what point did you think that would be a good idea?  nicholas cage is very popular in south america.  i think once they catch wind of john cusack, his films will replace those of nic's on their cross country buses

2. The Punisher - The Thomas Jane version. You know it's bad when you're 5 minutes in and wishing for Dolph Lundgren.

3 - The Angriest Man in Brooklyn
Poor old Robin Williams should be spinning in his grave at the realization that this was one of his final celluloid moments. Just awful.

3. 2012 - I went upstairs to talk to the cat. It was more interesting than this piece of tripe. The fiance stayed downstairs to finish the movie because 'Well, I made it this far I might as well finish it." Idiot.

1. Spiderman 3 - The child wanted to watch it, he fell asleep 1/3 of the way through and I rejoiced. The movie started and I thought "Oh yeah, this is why I've never chosen to sit through this".

1. Locke - I thought this would be something I'd enjoy, but watching someone take phone call after phone call was just boring. I thought I could listen to Tom Hardy talk all day long. I was wrong. Only lasted about 25-30 minutes and decided that was enough for me to get the concept and be done with it.

1. Listen Up Philip - Amazon Prime Instant

I really wanted to like this, but good God almighty I just want to punch both the protagonists in the face and ended up shutting it off around 45 minutes in.  Jason Schwartzman plays annoying just way too well, and I wasn't enjoying it at all.  Despite the bad reviews, I tried it due to his presence and Elisabeth Moss's.  They betrayed me.  I will never rule out going back to revisit this, but I can't see doing it in the next few months.

2. The Zero Theorem - Amazon Prime Instant

Gilliam's future dystopia schtick veers into self-parody in this one.  Whereas with many of the others there was a tie with the current societal fears, this one just doesn't compute at all.  It is totally inscrutable and after 45 minutes I didn't see it getting any better.  I will probably just read a plot summary to figure out just what the heck Christoph Waltz's character is supposed to be doing, because other than "putting building blocks in a giant simulation in just the right place" it makes absolutely no sense.

If this is what Gilliam is like when he is not on a major studio leash... he needs the leash.  He needs it bad.
