I don't know that I would call Shovels and Rope a "veteran" band (2 albums released), but I loved their "Swimmin' Time" album from last year, and really look forward to finally seeing them in concert. Maybe by next March they'll have a new album out?

I ended up not being able to go (had to take care of Mom) but I heard Radkey was supposed to open. I really like Dark Black Makeup and wondered if they rock as hard live as they did on that record. Did they indeed open?

I didn't go to the Madison show since I saw Wolf Alice the week before at the LC in Columbus. But they've got more US dates lined up come next Spring:\

Fri 04/01/16   Philadelphia, PA  Union Transfer
Sat 04/02/16   New York, NY  Irving Plaza
Sun 04/03/16   Boston, MA  Brighton Music Hall
Mon 04/04/16   Hamden, CT  The Space
Thu 04/07/16   Pittsburgh, PA  Stage AE
Fri 04/08/16   Columbus, OH  A & R Music Bar
Sat 04/09/16   Indianapolis, IN  Old National Centre
Sun 04/10/16   Madison, WI  Majestic Theatre
Thu 04/14/16   Denver, CO  Bluebird Theater
Fri 04/15/16   Salt Lake City, UT  The Complex - The Grand
Sat 04/16/16   New York, NY  Irving Plaza

I love Wolf Alice and I'll consider going again to Columbus to see them, but, man, the A&R Music Bar is not a great place. I saw Temples there earlier this year.

The Old National Center in Indy is a nice place.  Of the three different stages in that complex, I've only been to Deluxe.  But people I know who have seen shows at the Egyptian Room and the Murat Theater speak highly of those two rooms as well.  Of course, I live on the west side, not too far from !-74, so it's a little closer and a little easier for me to get to Indy than it is for some other folks.

Hmm, it looks like The Mountain Goats are playing Indy at The Vogue that same night...

Given the choice I would take both The Deluxe and Egyptian room over A&R. But A&R is better than The Basement. I hate the Basement.

Just saw this. Am I behind or what? Radkey was full fist pumping power with a non-stop attitude. Reminded me of The Stooges or Ramones.

Tonight: Polica!

I hate Madison Theater yet here I'll be for:

2-17 K. Flay / Paper Route
3-03 St. Paul & The Broken Bones / Aaron Lee Tasjan
3-21 The Revivalists
4-03 Local Natives

and maybe Pixies, but woah those are prices.

I'd like to see St. Paul and the Broken bones, but we all know how bad The Madison is, add in a humongous crowd and I'm out.  The Revivalists might be a more tolerable show to see there, since they're a lesser known band, but still, ugh, The Madison.  No way in hell you'd get me there for the Pixies.

How is the Madison still a thing?  Everybody hates it.
