Am I reading that right??? Sloan? REALLY?

And Broncho?

I have my kids on the weekends now, but they might enjoy getting run around the square a bit.

I KNOW!! I am so stoked for that one! Man, Navy Blues was my LP of the year in 1998.

And I'm very excited for Broncho too. :)

I may have bounced down the hallway when I told a co-worker about it.

Where is WTM playing on that date that poses a problem?

My friend and I went to the CSO May Festival tonight, and then headed over to Fountain Square in time to catch Surfer Blood.

Couple of thoughts: aside from the Indie Summer Series on Fountain Square, 3CDC now also puts on free shows at Washington Park. So when we walked out of Music Hall, there was a HUGE crowd for some free show there, an R&B band, it seemed like the entire African-American community was there, THOUSANDS of people. We walked towards Fountain Square, and along the way there were a ton of people walking around in OtR and below.

We got to Fountain Square. I admit I haven't been to an Indie Summer Series show in a while, and I was amazed how many people were there too. Not sure it that was because it was Surfer Blood headlining, or just because. Either way, it is just fantastic how many people are enjoying downtown.

As to Surfer Blood's set: not so good. I've seen these guys before, and tonight's set was just so-so. Of course their new album is also just so-so (their weakest album to date), but on top of that, the sound mix was terrible, period. A shame.

As an aside: the beer lines were super-long, there were only 3 stations selling drinks, and only one of them had "premium" beers (Shock Top, Goose IPA, etc.). What happened to the beer trucks that used to be at the Indie Summer Series?

For a town with so many breweries, the beer selection at the Indie series is shite.

True that.  Must be the big corporate sponsorship that's keeping our fine local breweries away.   >:(
